i dont have the mental capacity to write a fic so here are bullet points of what has been brainstormed on this blog so if someone wants to run with this they can
charles gets into acting instead of racing. still, he grew up in monaco and loves racing. he's a big ferrari fan but his fans slowly notice he has a soft spot for max verstappen because he likes all his posts and follows only ferrari and max on social media
he's at one point asked, lets say in 2021, about f1 in an interview and he gets very defensive about why max should win wdc and all his fans make fun of him for being so into it
slowly he starts full on live tweeting races. pr training out of the window. he gets into fights with other f1 stans on twitter defending the hell out of max.
paparazzi pics of him wearing the verstappen red bull hat. at this point their fans ship them. very "duo i just made up" core
charles auditions for the f1 movie and doesn't get the role. his fans joke that he only auditioned to meet max
he's like super cool and popular, white boy of the month level of internet fame. very paul mescal-y or josh o'connor-y career if you get me. he COULD be in challengers
FINALLY, red bull invites him into the paddock to meet max. it's very serious. charles has to make a good impression. he's verstappie down.
unfortunately, the race day is busy and he gets only one photo op with max. charles fumbles the interaction. max is in hurry to get in the car. filmupdates posts about it and everyone makes fun of charles for not knowing how to act.
max doesn't know who tf is charles and hasnt seen a single movie he's been in.
red bull threads admin starts shipping them immediately despite the absolute negative levels of chemistry between them. the concept of lestappen is born.
things get serious during the 2024 title fight with lando. charles is mclaren hater to his core. he does not fuck around. anybody who is risking max his wdc is public enemy #1
fast forward monaco gp 2024. charles is invited again. but this time it's a brand deal with ferrari. he's not in the red bull garage. he's wearing ferrari style. it's over
still, he manages to sneak out of the garage into the red bull hospitality (it's a whole thing) just to wish max good luck. there are 7000 angles of it like jfk's assassination. in a poor attempt to make small talk with max, charles catches him in the paddock and asks him what strategy he plans for the race
max is incredibly confused on why this stranger is asking him about his strategy but charles proceeds to yap and overshare and max is kinda being held hostage by this man in a ferrari jacket recommending him a one stopper race strategy for no reason
so max just ends up giving him thumbs up and a polite smile and leaves
charles has fumbled yet again
someone records the conversation and it blows up. max ends up winning doing a one stopper and the red bull account is in on the joke and tags charles in their ig post, thanking him for his race strategy
charles is on some podcast a week later, recalling this entire interaction like the humiliation ritual it was (travis kelce style, when he tried to rizz up taylor with a friendship bracelet and she didnt want to meet him). he says he's a big max fan and gets nervous around him but hopes max isn't too weirded out
my man gets invited to the red bull garage again. by red bull. it's media day. the social team thinks it's incredibly funny to make him rank best max verstappen wins so he does it even if he's a little too A list to do this for free.
max ends up meeting him in the paddock and this time, having more knowledge about who he is after this entire Situation, thanks him for the strategy as a joke. they chat a bit. charles stutters.
the rest is history (or maybe part two idk this got long lol)
