Like it hurts to watch because we're seeing Amir try to find some relief from that with the F&F game but things just keep going wrong and for some reason we can't talk to him about it because he keeps deflecting. His crashout is honestly valid because yeah, their situation blows. But conversely, what's so frustrating is that he's also bitterly letting his baggage affect others.

Quincy is incredibly uncomfortable and in several instances asks Amir to cut it out. The others are confused whenever he lashes out at them. Amir snarkingly jokes about Drifter resetting their memories and doesn't take it seriously if they say they never have and never will (which is his prerogative to not take Drifter's word for it but it still hurts), and unintentionally or not, he lowkey insinuates that the "endlessly looping hellscape" is Drifter's doing. Which, yes, it technically is and everyone knows it, and yes, I know he isn't blaming them because their alternative was literally dying and he's simply venting rn, but there is no world where what he said didn't make Drifter feel like absolute shit.

To start with a little disclaimer, Top Gear's Hilux did not start off, as in the video above, in pristine condition. It started off with nigh-on 300k kms (for you yankees, that's about 8.4 million Boeing 737 wingspans) and a condition to match.

And it's only once careless driving around town yielded zilch in given shits...

Now, the underselling part: if you told me that they drowned a pickup the first place my mind would go to would be "driving it through a river a bit too deep for it, perhaps as deep as its height, until it stalls and then tugging it back out. You will concede that's rather different from tying it down on the seashore with the second highest tide in the world...

...and leaving it there until it engulfs the whole truck...

...only for the ropes to snap...

...and for the truck to be lost to the tides for FIVE HOURS.

(and for those wondering, yes, just as promised, well within an hour and the mandatory limits of basic tools and no spare parts, up the mechanic made the thing fire and away the presenter drove it - I must imagine doing a number on his clothes in the process.)

Oh also I would have mentioned the caravan.

Still, I feel it's criminal to leave out how they celebrated it surviving all it did: by parking it at the top of a 23 story building for all to see! :)

When Arthur got angry and yelled at Drifter and scared about them leaving, people liked it because of the angst of it and it was in character and so on Amir has total rights and it's so understandable that he is so scared and upset and feels like he can't talk about his feelings. We only get Drifter talking about the loops/spirals and we never got to see the start of being stuck in a loop We're seeing that with Amir He keeps getting his feelings dismissed, things that are important to him dismissed and shrugged off and then people blamed him for the eximus before they even fully knew what was happening Then on top of that, he already feels like he gets babied by the rest of the Hex and already has negative emotions about being inexperienced with war, struggling with his proto body and then as he said, everything he makes gets destroyed at the end of the loop But hey, at least he's not dead, right?

If he's not careful, he's going to reach apathy. This was his attempt to avoid that, lift everyone up and get him AND them out of that spiral down. And it's failing for reasons entirely out of his own control. This has been building up for so long and he's been trying so hard to keep it to himself to not get punished in some way for it
