I was practically slapping my knee when I finished this one. It can be a delightfully gleeful experience, having and exercising the power to create such imagesβ¦β¦β¦

Just had a rather rude customer but the woman behind him was like βdamn that guy sucked ass to talk to, didnβt he?β which was such a balm to my prickled soul
Perplexed by Meeden oil pastels. I really really like them but they are EXCLUSIVELY available in sets. I plan to get the full 72-colour range but if I run out of one of the colours the only way to restock would be to⦠buy the full 72 set again??
Thatβs strange to me. Very peculiar. Unfortunately I think they might be THE oil pastel I want to use so theyβve trapped me with their excellent productβ¦ and the full set of 72 costs about as much as 12 sennelier pastels, so itβs not THAT badβ¦ but it IS annoying
Oil pastel drake!! What fun!

I got some new oil pastels - theyβre a lot cheaper so I was able to buy a bigger set, and I REALLY like having more colour options to play with!
Some birds!
I have a bunch of stamps I bought in large batches that I donβt need for my albums, so I thought it would be fun to add βem to illustrations to thenβ¦ likeβ¦ sell at art fairs and such. Something a lil bit different. So the cock of the rock was me testing the idea!

I dooooooo like oil pastels but I canβt make them do what I want just yet. They defy me. They say, oh, I hope you wanted this all kinda blotchy and patchy, yeah? And I say, no, I wanted you smooth and creamy, like I managed to do on this other drawing. And they say, thatβs tooooooo bad, toots. I ask, what did I do differently this time? And they smile smugly and say nothing. The little devils
One of my least favourite parts of developing new technical skills is asking myself the question of βwhat did I do differently to get these two different resultsβ and not having an answer. Not even βI didnβt quite manage to pull this off as I intended,β but, βI donβt really know what I did either time and I donβt know how to reproduce or avoid a resultβ. But itβs aaaall part of the process. And a lovely woman showed me how do a bayeux embroidery stitch this morning so Iβm going to help make some things for a local primary school, and that too will be a new learning process to intrigue and frustrate me! What fun!!
(Iβm trying to reframe this part of the learning experience in my head after I got real sullen w/ my printmaking problems lmao)
