2. Alexander Hamilton may’ve never had an affair with Maria Reynolds!!! It may’ve just been a cover up between Alexander and James Reynold to hide that they’d been illegally speculating. There is no proof besides Alexander and James’s word that the affair happened. When Maria was accused publicly, she broke down, crying and denied it. When Eliza learned about the “affair,” she didn’t have any negative feelings about it, unlike in the musical. She burned the letters from James Reynolds as a widow.
