Good morning! Today I started the day the best way - by chowing down on some Co-op mini Hashbrown bites

Appearance: when you haven't had breakfast yet and you're sat in the car with a nest of golden hashies warming your lap, it looks delightful. It's as if the heavens briefly peered back at me when I opened the lid. Instant mouth wet.

Texture: a very small (and that's being generous) crunch. They were quite soggy. But I think these Hashbrowns really pull off being a bit sodden. They aren't big enough that when you lift them to your mouth it sadly flops on to your tongue.

Taste: Joyful. They really nailed the taste. Plenty of oniony goodness. Not heavy on the oil other, so I could really surrender my taste buds to the sensations of diced potato and onion.

My Salt and Pepper Hashies made with Lidl Harvest Basket Hashbrowns

Appearance: Before frying them in the flavourings, these Hashbrowns were pale! I thought I hadn't cook them long enough but they were just a lil lighter. After frying in the chilli, onion and seasonings; they developed a lovely golden hue.

Texture: INCREDIBLE crunch. I thought they were going to be oily but the ratio was perfect. Dopamine with every bite. The insides were very fluffy, almost mash like. Not much of a problem when they're being cooked into a dish, but I would miss the flaked potato texture if I was eating soley them.

Taste: I really popped off with the seasonings. I used one chilli instead of two - and thank fuck I did. They had a warming kick with enough salt to keep my blood volume up for the next day or so. The taste of the potato was mid. But if you haven't already gathered I'm a slut for Hashbrowns so I will finish the bag.

Lot 11 Cafe Truffle and Parmesan Hashbrowns

Appearance: Golden, oily and covered in cheese. Stunning. Classic triangular shape that we know and love. Presentation got me all excited.

Texture: These Hashbrowns are deep fried so the crunchy outside was divine. The potatoey innards were quite mushy, but not to the point of completely losing the feel of the potato flakes. Hashbrowns like this are the OG's in the UK.

Taste: I recognised the hashies instantly. They are from Iceland (the UK frozen food supermarket, not to be confused with the country). Simple in taste but the combination of this humble potato shape with truffle oil and Parmesan just shows how you can really elevate a staple fave.

Price: it was £7.49 for four Hashbrowns. This feels silly at a first glance but truffle oil can be quite expensive. Worth it for the joy, in my unprofessional opinion.

Leon Hashbrowns

Appearance: pleasantly suprised by the nugget shape. Amplified the postive experience imo.

Texture: gentle crunch. I was expecting the potato to be soggy but it had a suprising fluffiness to it.

Taste: I was expecting the insides to be soggy but it was a suprising fluffy potato with a subtle onion taste.
