okay alright so, at some point tbd later I'll come back & make an Actual post for this but For Now here's as brief a TL;DR as I can manage:
🔶️ **I'm aware that this is a stretch even as far as crackships go, so if the concept or any of the content associated with these characters is upsetting/squicky to you then PLEASE use the block button/blacklist/tag filters, since that's what they're made for 😂 I wouldn't be here either if these idiots weren't apparently hell-bent on holding me directly by the throat, but alas!!**
🔶️ calling them ReversedHearts instead of CasinoMoth/ValHusk comes from the name of this AU, Jack of Hearts Reversed, bc I strongly feel the need to differentiate that I'm very specifically talking about their dynamic within my own delulu storyline, soooo.... yeah~ 🤪✨️ 🔸️(later on once Angel joins the picture (bc my grubby little polyam hands can't help themselves 🫶), their trio/polycule gets called PerformanceHearts bc I think that's really cute 🙈 so if you see that name pop up that's what it's referring to lmao)
🔶️ this all started out as a joke back between S1&2 where I was amusing myself with thinking about Angel pulling Husk into the mess that is the Vee Tower Polycule Of DoomTM, made particularly interesting with the whole assumed Velvette vs. Husk dynamic within the Vees vs. RadioTrio relationship (chatted a bit about Here lol)—but then the Valentino in my mind took one look at Husk and went, "That one's Mine, actually~ 🤭💖" bc he's a greedy little 12ft bastard, surprise surprise 😂
🔶️ so then my brain started gradually concocting a whole AU where TL;DR Val was a sex worker working under another Overlord during his earliest days in hell & ended up getting overlord!Husk as a client for ReasonsTM, yadda yadda we know how this story goes, but they actually do kinda get along for ReasonsTM & so start spending perhaps a bit more time together than the average job would entail and after a while a certain moth may or may not have caught feelings for one of the only people in hell that didn't treat him completely like shit all of the time—so when an unrelated tragedy eventually strikes, one thing leads to another & dominoes fall & they "break up" about it and that's the last straw that pushes Val to snap & become the remorseless shitbag we know in the show's current-day, except that now he's also in a bitter situationship-divorce similar yet veryyyy different to whatever RadioStatic/Silence have going on—because Vees & RadioTrio Parallels, of course~!! 😂🤣 so then what's the deal with Velvette & Niffty being divorced?? someone else will have to bear the mantle of coming up with that one hdjsgfbdjsk
🔶️ EXCEPT, I am an absolute sappy loser so in this AU Val actually has a conscience & thru certain story events eventually heads into "What Would 'Redemption'/Repentance Potentially Look Like For Somone As Awful As Val?" considerations which are sooooooo yum-yum-yummyyyy for my brain to gnaw on as fictional explorations and how his relationships grow & evolve with Angel & Husk & some of the other people at the hotel & even the other Vees and just aaaaAAAA it sparks so much joy in my heart, idk why!!!! 😫🥴🫠 This objectively piece-of-shit character has wormed his way into my heart & mind and is refusing to let go, so I've just accepted that I'm in for the long haul at this point~ TwT;; (what's that? Val having issues with consent? groundbreaking TvT;;)
🔶️ which leads me to—and I simply cannot stress this enough—the fact that the Val in this AU, like.... isn't really Val??? 😂😂 Like I cannot understate how badly I want canon!Val to just remain a heartless, vapid, unrepentant piece of shit who'll get what's coming to him eventually (talked a bit abt it Here), but within the bounds of this stupid AU where he's secretly got a soft sadboi core at the center of it all...? 🥺🥺 Still doesn't excuse any of his shit etc. etc., but the potential of a truly awful person who genuinely Wants to try to be better for whichever reason finally gets them to make that decision........? AOUGH BRAIN GO BRRRRRRRR 😫🤧🥴✨️ If it's not (likely) something that's gonna happen in real life then let me enjoy playing with the idea in fiction at least, dammit~!! 🔸️...Anyways, the point of this section was supposed to be that I call this version of him Tino as a way to differentiate him from canon!Val bc they truly are different characters in my mind 😂😂 And I further break it up into three main "Eras": ❤️Pre-Break Up, 💔Post-Break Up, and ❤️🩹Post-Reconciliation, so if you see those emojis floating around here, that's what they'll generally be referring to~ x'3c

Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so " bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are.
Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.
*taps my cigarette pensively* You know, I make a big to-do about Tino being an OC-version of Val, but ReversedHearts!Husk is just as much of an OC realistically, so I should probably start treating/thinking of him in the same way, no? 😂
(god i fucking love valhusk. them having history when husk was an overlord, val going to his casino. unsolved feelings, no closure, after husk lost his soul and valentino joined the vees. valentino was never a good person but joining the vees has definitely only rewarded the worst parts of him. husk knowing val before all of that, knowing the starving artist he used to be. im fucking sick.)
Still thinking about Valentino's mindset that love has to be earned. It's plainly obvious in his relationship with Angel where he treats Angel's love as equal to responsive respect and his own "love" for Angel as acts of service. No matter how warped Valentino's feelings for Angel are by that thread of possession interwoven through them, that possession is inextricable from the intensity with which he feels. Perhaps subconsciously, he allows himself to sink his teeth so deep into Angel to the point of co-dependency because he knows Angel can't leave, hence he knows he's in control, hence he knows he can't get HURT. With Angel, he takes the role of provider, a more dominant based role, and he thinks as long as he fulfils his end then Angel has to fulfil his by giving Val his utmost devotion. He doesn't consider what he does to Angel as particularly abusive because to him that love is a game, and Angel isn't playing fairly, he isn't fulfilling his part therefore Val has "the right" to take his feelings out on him.
Meanwhile with Vox, Valentino is the one being provided. He recognizes that Vox is higher on the societal hierarchy. He has more money, more connections, more prestige and more recognition than Valentino could get in his line of business. Not to mention that Val depends on Vox to film and distribute his movies.
There is a REASON Valentino is drawn to people who fall on that provider/taken-care-of pyramid. And he pitches in his contribution to the relationship with Vox through his looks. He knows he's one of the hottest and most charming catches in hell, therefore he's fulfilling his end. Vox SHOULD want him and stay with him then. Valentino's indifference to contribute anything more to the relationships derives from his belief that he's ALREADY investing. Therefore he can use Vox's credit cards, he can be whiny, he can be princessy, he can be bratty, he can be petulant, he can throw glasses at Vox's face etc. etc. That's why sex is so focal in their relationship, because it makes Valentino feel important, needed, acknowledged because he thinks that only through sex could Vox be convinced to stay with him. That's what Valentino is good for, right? Why else would anyone want him? They communicate their love through sex instead of words. They solve their arguments through it. They never apologize. They use it to manipulate each other. They use it to comfort each other. And it works for Vox because Valentino is only a business partner right? There's no need to make things messy by bringing feelings and open confessions into the mix. Again.
It's really interesting how Valentino's idea of love is TAUGHT. It isn't FELT. He behaves accordingly when he wants someone's affection, he dotes, he fawns, he shows affection through physical touch, he buys gifts, he makes himself more appealing. He DOES. He doesn't stop to think that the actions he does outside of his attempts to earn someone's devotion might be damaging his relationships. In his mind, if he's behaving like he should, then so should his partner. It's like math. One plus one equals two. And since he regularly performs his end of things then it MUST be Vox/Angel's fault if Val isn't feeling the love he thinks he's OWED. He's doing everything he should, they're not. And he feels betrayed. That reactive victim complex that rises from a deep-rooted dissatisfaction with life and himself that he takes out on the "villain" in his story. It has also completely warped his view of consent, or rather, lack thereof. Not just for partners but himself as well. He would put up with shitty behaviour just as blindly as he would mete out cruelty. It probably happened early on in his youth because that type of behaviour is so deeply ingrained he isn't even aware of it. Probably by his parents or other adult figures that might have been important in his life that would have taught him that love would be withheld from him if he didn't behave right. There's a straightforward line of thinking in his head that's been learned like a horse being raised on a running track all its life, never being allowed to stop or look sideways.
