Tuesday, June 19, There’s a Tip Credit Hearing for Car Wash Workers & Nail Salon Workers. Here in our space the Car Wash Workers have been very supportive of our actions & rallies and they deserve our support in solidarity. They are demanding a ban on “Tip Credit”. This is when the employer has the privilege to pay you less than the minimum wage depending on how much a worker gets in tips. The issue is that most employers don’t pay the proper wage, plus they don’t give the proper amount in tips. The 49th annual Pride parade will take place June 24th, 12pm - 3pm. Congressmember Yvette Clarke 9th Congressional District, representing parts of Central Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Midwood, Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach and Prospect Lefferts Gardens has been in Congress since 2007, Clarke helped draft the Affordable Care Act, which has reduced the number of uninsured New Yorkers by 850,000.
