The Amazon listing for volume 3 of No.6 Reunion now has an image with the obi for the book. The obi has a new quote, almost certainly from Reunion #3. Nezumi is saying the quote, which is:
"Perhaps you're the one who can give me an answer."
The "you" he is referring to is Shion. It's not clear if this is Nezumi's inner thoughts or something he is saying aloud to Shion. My gut tells me it's the former, but we will find out next month!
A blurb for No.6 Reunion #3 was posted on the Kodansha No.6 website today. Here is my quick translation of it:
A new danger is closing in on No.6.
When Nezumi had wandered the wilderness, he learned that a group of caravaners held a secret about No.6. Shion, meanwhile, had had his hands full working hard on the reconstruction efforts inside the city, and even had to make ruthless decisions at times.
When Nezumi brings to light a terrible truth involving Shion, they have an intense emotional clash. You won’t be able to keep your eyes off the page as the bond between the two is tested once more!
While it's not of much interest to the English-speaking side of the fandom, Kodansha has started to release Japanese audiobooks of the original No.6 series. They are narrated by Shindou Kei, who voiced Inukashi in the No.6 anime. The first installment was released a month ago, and the second was released yesterday (though Kodansha has yet to make an announcement about it). You can listen to them through Audible Japan here.
I listened to both and loved them! I'm super excited for the rest of the audiobooks, and I hope they do Beyond and Reunion as well. If you speak Japanese, I highly recommend them. They are short at less than five and a half hours each.
Hi, do you know any other way to listen to the audiobooks? The link leads to a private video/playlist. :(
Unfortunately, the creator of the audiobooks had to take them down from YouTube due to copyright issues. The RC blog sadly was not able to archive a copy prior to that (although even if we had, we would not post it publicly because we don't want to cause problems for a fan creator).
This actually came up on the No. 6 discord today. Nobody there was able to find a copy either. And yes, we have checked the Wayback Machine.

Hi! Do you know where I can find the russian translations of the novels?
9th ave links [this Russian translation] of the original series, but it appears to be incomplete. The only Russian translation of Reunion we are aware of was made with AI and thus is not a real translation at all.
However, there may be others out there. Followers, please comment if you're aware of any good Russian translations of either Reunion or the original series!
The final day to sign up is tomorrow, December 21st!
As you may unfortunately be aware, scammers are currently flooding fanfiction comments with art commission scams (more info on the scam and what to look out for here). And we're absolutely sick of it. So here's our solution! Fanart Frenzy - an event designed to counteract these scammers and their impact on the fanfiction community, as well as raise awareness of their evolving scams.
What is Fanart Frenzy?
Fanart Frenzy is a month-long bingo event designed to bring a wave of fanfiction-inspired fanart into the community, entirely free and unsolicited, as fandom is supposed to be, in order to stem the flow of these scammers, encourage our favorite fic writers, and liven up our fandoms. This event is anti-AI - real, human-made art only! The event will run from January 1-31, 2026.
How does it work?
You can sign up via our sign up form! In late December, we'll send out bingo cards to each participant with prompts guiding you towards fics in your fandom to make art for. (Ex. Make art for a fic with no comments). Throughout January, you can make as few or as many pieces of art as you like - you can aim for a bingo, a blackout, or just pick one fic you really want to make art for. Post your work anywhere you'd normally post it, then share it with the writer and the Fanart Frenzy community.
Can't draw?
No worries! This event is about all kinds of art, not just traditional art - everything from playlists to gif sets to cookies to fiber arts, memes, and more. Anything artistic you can do inspired by a fanfic is perfect for this event.
If you don't enjoy making art, the event also includes a Comment Challenge! During sign up, you can choose a bingo card with only art-related prompts, only commenting-related prompts, or a mix of the two. Non-artists can participate alongside artists by following the prompts to find fics in their fandoms in need of thoughtful, kind comments. (Ex. Leave a comment on a fic you've bookmarked.)
You can help us out by spreading the word! Please tell your friends and fandom communities about the event!
Before the event starts, please join us on our discord server, follow us here on tumblr or on reddit and bluesky!
If you're unable to commit to the event but still want to participate, or if you're on the fence and want to try it out, check out our warmup challenge!
Have any questions, concerns, or comments? Check out our FAQ or drop a reply here and we'll answer as soon as possible!
If you're excited for the event and want to warm up your art skills, or if you're not signed up yet but are considering it, here's a quick challenge you can try!
For anyone interested: in the next two weeks before the event starts, fill the following prompt: Make any kind of art for (or leave a comment on) a fic related to winter, the holiday season, or New Year's Eve.
Add your art into a comment on the fic using our comment guide, and post anywhere you normally would using our posting guidelines - please tag us or use the hashtag #fanart frenzy. You can also share your art on our subreddit, on our discord server, or add it to our AO3 collection for this challenge! Please follow our event rules and check out the FAQ for quick answers!
If you haven't signed up for the event yet, you can do so here! Sign-ups close December 21st. Bingo cards will be going out soon, so keep an eye on your inboxes! The event begins January 1st!
We are now open for sign ups. Everyone and anyone is welcome to participate, whether you’re an artist, a writer, a gif-maker, or even a playlist creator—whatever form your holiday spirit takes, we want to see it under the proverbial tree. The only requirements are that you love No. 6 and digital gifting.
(Note: We don't allow the use of generative AI to create any gift. All gifts must be handmade.)
>>If you’re interested in participating, SIGN UP HERE<<
The sign up form will include several questions about your wish list for this holiday season (what kinds of gifts do you want to receive? What kinds of gifts are you willing to give? Are there topics you aren’t comfortable with?) Your answers will help our elves pair you with the right recipient.
SIGN UP DEADLINE: End of day Tuesday, November 25th. Pairs will be made after the deadline and all participants will receive their Secret Santa assignment via email on December 1st.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: End of day Thursday, December 25th. The actual gift exchange will occur between December 26th and January 1st. If you have questions, feel free to send an ask to @no6secretsanta.
And if you want this to be the best holiday exchange ever, ~please signal boost this post~!

2025/9/7 No.6 Reunion Asano-sensei Q&A event overview - PART 1
This is part one of a digest of the Q&A talk event Asano-sensei did on Shion's birthday last month. Two articles were published in Japanese which summarized the questions and answers at the event, but rather than simply translating those articles, I wanted to do my own summary based off of the event recording. Any errors or omissions are my own.
The event was moderated by one of her editors for No.6, and contains mild spoilers for volumes 1 and 2 of No.6 Reunion. (Thank you @minamiren for archiving the video recording of this event for me when I wasn't able to!)
The Q&A kicks off with a video message from fellow children's lit author Hayamine Kaoru. He says that both he and Asano still live in the towns they grew up in, and do their writing there, and he wonders how that influences Asano's work. He also says that when Asano wrote Battery (TN: one of her other well-known series), she kept a baseball at hand, and asks if she is doing anything special like that as she writes No.6 Reunion.
Asano answers that she lives in Okayama Prefecture. While she can't think of any particular aspect of Okayama that has had explicit influence on her work, because she has lived in the countryside there for decades now, the natural atmosphere of Okayama makes it into her books. Some examples are the way the seasons change, the sound of the rain, and the scent of the earth after rain.
As for his second question, Asano clarifies that when she was writing Battery, it wasn't a leather baseball that she had, but a rubber Japanese-style baseball. For No.6, she says that she lines up a lot of classics in front of her on her desk, starting with Shakespeare. She'll flip through them looking for quotes to use at the beginning of chapters. She has a lot on her desk for Reunion #3 that are gathering dust right now.
Her editor says that she gets the impression that No.6 has been the gateway to classics for many readers. Asano responds that she'd like to make it clear that she hasn't actually read many classics herself—she's not that much of a scholar! She just happened to like Macbeth. She says that sometimes she is asked to write about Shakespeare, and she always refuses, but when she looks through the classics for words, both Japanese and Western classic lit convey a different and unique feeling from contemporary lit for her.
The Q&A then transitions to reader-submitted questions. These questions were submitted through a form on the event's webpage.
The first question asks what the past fourteen years between No.6 and No.6 Reunion were like for Asano, and what inspired her to write a sequel. Asano apologizes, saying that it’s a habit of hers to end stories in a way that leaves the reader wanting to find out what happens next. To illustrate this point, she tells a story about how when she was writing the original series, volume four ended as Nezumi and Shion are just about to drop down the elevator into the Correctional Facility. When she went to see the No.6 musical adaptation, Act I ended at that very same point, and she realized that while musical viewers only had to wait fifteen minutes to find out what happened next, novel readers had to wait an entire year for her to write volume five!
Taking fourteen years to continue No.6 wasn’t actually another instance of that habit, though—it was the result of actually feeling unable to write what happened next. She knew deeply that she needed to write the continuation of Nezumi and Shion’s story, but also knew that understanding that something needed to be done and being able to actually do it were two different things. Thus, she spent those fourteen years caught between wanting to write and being unable to.
What inspired her in the end to begin writing No.6 Reunion were two things: one, she missed Nezumi and Shion, but knew that she was the only one that could do anything about that. Two, the atrocities being committed in Gaza by Israel were a major factor—she saw the city of No.6 there in how adults were launching missiles at unarmed children. No.6 seemed alive and thriving in real life, and she realized that she needed to write No.6 Reunion now—it was no time to say she couldn’t write. What kind of future would Nezumi and Shion build in response to that kind of reality? The third and final reason was that her editor (the one MCing the event) had been bothering her endlessly to write! When No.6 Reunion #1 was finally published, Asano was genuinely surprised at the large number of fans who came out of the woodwork to thank her for continuing Nezumi and Shion’s story. She felt proud of herself for managing to write a story that had touched so many people.
The next question asks if there are any characters who have left a different impression on Asano in No.6 Reunion than they did in the original series, or if there are any characters that don’t feel different to her at all. Asano replies that due to there being a two year timeskip, it’s only natural that everyone would change, but Inukashi especially stands out to her in that they’re living a surprisingly stable, upright life. Both Nezumi and Shion have a certain precariousness to them—if something happens to one of them, the other is also affected. It’s really Inukashi who’s the best at standing on their own two feet, and she thinks maybe that’s why she gave them a child to care for rather than any other character.
The next question asks if what Nezumi was up to in the two year period will ever be revealed. Asano says that volume two of Reunion ended just as he was about to start talking about that to Shion—what he did for the past two years, why he came back to No.6, and what he intends to do now. While volumes one and two focused largely on Shion, she intends for volume three to focus on Nezumi, and then the story of No.6—of Shion and Nezumi together—can truly begin.
The next question asks if Asano is doing anything particular in order to understand Nezumi and Shion’s relationship more deeply, considering that in interviews she has said that she wants to understand their relationship. Asano says that she likes to see how relationships between two people play out naturally, rather than deciding from the start what they will be. While it can be easy and convenient to decide upfront that the relationship between two people is that of lovers or companions, or husband and wife, she just doesn’t find that interesting. She really can’t tell what the current nature of Nezumi and Shion’s relationship is—and thus she writes, in order to better understand it.
She herself doesn’t know at all whether Shion and Nezumi love each other romantically, have some form of very deep friendship, or even perhaps if hatred or fear lurk beneath their feelings of love. It may even be that one of them must kill the other in order for the story to proceed—she truly doesn’t know. Of course, while she does want them to be happy, she also thinks that their future, and the definition of their relationship, is one she needs to discover as she writes, and their relationship may not ever have a clear label to it.
In an effort to foster creativity and community in the No.6 fandom, I've created a No.6 prompt meme on AO3. Reblog to spread the word!
What is a prompt meme?
A prompt meme is an informal, no-commitment fanworks collection where prompts are created and filled. This prompt meme has no assignments, no deadlines, and is always open. Add prompts and fill them at any time, even a year from now.
How do I participate?
It's super easy! You submit prompts directly to the prompt meme from the collection page on AO3. Fill any prompts that catch your eye by clicking "claim" and "fulfill" on the prompt. All prompts are anonymous, and can be claimed by multiple people. Claims can be dropped at any time with no consequences.
Do I have to be a writer to participate?
All fanworks are accepted, whether fic, art, podfic, vids, or anything else you want to create or prompt.
Are there effort/length minimums or maximums?
Not at all. Any level of effort or length is accepted, even a quick drabble or sketch.

I saw you guys replied to another ask about Vol. 2 for "No. 6 Reunion", so I wanted to point this out. If you guys go on Aowyn's Tumblr blog, it was announced that Aowyn and their team will no longer be doing direct translations on the "No. 6 Reunion" novels because Kodansha sent them a takedown notice. Their WordPress blog is gone, too. However, Aowyn did say that they will be doing summaries for "No. 6 Reunion". It sucks that we won't be getting direct translations, but it is what is. T_T
Hi there, anon. The situation is SUCH a shame, since Aowyn and her team's incredible work is free promotion for Kodansha. It's mystifying that they can't understand that. Nonetheless, you have to remember that right now they're especially reactive to fan translations because the release of the novels is so fresh. Hopefully in the future there will come a time when we are able to read the second novel in English.
If you have any specific questions about the second book and the events that take place in it, you can always send @aowyn an ask. Or just message her to say thanks for her service to the fandom!
Hey, Restructural Committee. You guys are the biggest fan blog for "No. 6" fans, so I wanted to send this message for you guys to share. Back in June, Kodansha did a special fan letters campaign via their K MANGA website/app, where they FINALLY opened up an form for fans to write to their favorite mangakas. It ended in July, but it was so successful, they decided to get it open permanently at the end of August.
For anyone using the K MANGA app, you can find the fan letters inbox on the home page. Just scroll down until you find it, click on it, and it'll redirect you to the form page. Fans can also access the form page on their PC/desktop by typing "K Manga Fan Letters to Manga Creators" in Google. Fill out the form with the required fields and send it through. Fans can write fan letters in Japanese and English, and if anyone writes in English, the message will be translated to Japanese before being sent to the authors. So for any "No. 6" fans who wants to write to Asano-sensei, here's your chance! Send all your heartfelt thoughts and encouraging words to Asano-sensei! And if you're fans of any other Kodansha authors, send them a fan letter, too.
The site is marketed for manga creators rather than novelists, but since Asano-sensei is with Kodansha and the "No. 6" manga is something she also worked on alongside the artist, it should be perfectly acceptable to use to send letters to Asano-sensei. She is, after all, the author of the story. I've already sent her a letter myself. Naturally, for any fans who want to write to Asano-sensei or any other mangaka, please remember to be polite!
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS, RESTRUCTURAL COMMITTEE. I know there are tons of "No. 6" would has been waiting years to write to Asano-sensei! Please and thank you!
