he’s the first person to say they love you in almost ten years. he’s the first person you’ve put your heart and soul into , the first person you’ve ever truly been in love with , and here you are. shoulders tense up , lifting in a sort of discomfort as your lips part in confusion. ( i hate you ! ) you’ve done everything for him , stayed up late nights , held him when he needed you , worked extra shifts , cleaned up his blood , helped him when he’s had too much to drink ; you’ve done absolutely everything.
and this is how you’re repaid ?
❝ okay. ❞ your voice is quiet , eyes drifting down to your feet instead as you try to take a deep breath ( it catches in your throat and makes your eyes burn , the tears aren’t long after ). ❝ when ? ❞ the second word is spoken more forcefully , gaze clouded by the thin layer of tears.

before you’re aware of it , your fingers wrap around the keys to his jeep. ( where are you going ? ) ❝ i’m giving you time to figure this out. do whatever the hell you want , i don’t care. ❞ your other hand comes up to brush the hair from your face , as you move to the door.
for a second you freeze , fingers tightly wrapped around the handle. you look over your shoulder one last time at him , the man that you know you love , and the next words are purely instinctual. ❝ you can’t hate me because i don’t think you’re a bad man , it’s not fair. ❞
