thinking about the leviticus boys a little extra today thinking about hunter who seemed like he'd be a friendly face in naim's class when they first get introduced at church, going in for a handshake and greeting him. hunter who had a relationship with ryan and saw him as his entity because that's the person he wanted the most while ryan saw an entity of someone else. hunter who was begging for people to believe him when he said that all he and entity ryan did after the ritual was throw things at each other and nothing else. hunter who desperately tried to get naim to believe him, asking why no one would believe him. hunter who had no one on his life to lean on and confide in, not his parents or his sister. hunter who died alone thinking he was being hurt by the person who he wanted the most. thinking about ryan who is used to the love in his life coming with violence, and what that implies about what he may deal with at home and what he's learned to think is acceptable. ryan whose shows of affection with hunter had to be preceded by them throwing things at each other and showing aggression before any intimacy could happen. ryan who thought naim was hurting him and still believed it was the real naim rather than a warped version of him and he still wanted to see him. ryan who had a bruise on his arm when naim saw him at work and still wanted to do all the cute couple things with him so he walked to the photobooth with him, opening doors for him and taking pictures with him where they could be together in public and have some privacy. ryan who had claw marks on his back, marks on his face from where he thought he was seeing naim and had accepted that as part of the love naim was showing him. thinking about naim who begged for help from the people around him and didnt get it. naim who cried to the police and outed himself because he saw his classmate get dragged away and killed, and feared for ryan's life so he had to do whatever he could to protect him. naim who laid himself bare for the sake of hunter and ryan, talking about the fear he feels and still getting dismissed by the police. naim who got dragged into a deliverance ritual kicking and screaming and begging for his mom not to let them take him and she still did. naim who was terrified of being alone because of what the entity might do to him so he lies down on the floor next to his mom, even after what she causes because who else does he have to cling to and ask for protection from. naim who was dismissed and ignored by his mom, the last person he hoped could help him, and resorted to asking strangers to stay with him at the service station in the middle of the night, and they still didnt. saw the film a second time and this is what my brain did in response. i need a lie down.

are you watching backrooms: everything must go edition with 16 minutes of bonus footage in theatres after you already watched the original version when it first came out or are you normal? was the bonus footage necessary for a theatrical release? idcccc, whatever keeps original films created and directed by young and creative people in the cinema for longer so they can perform better and more people can watch them, delay the digital version even longer!!!!! release the unedited version, idc, release a version of the movie with bloopers in the credits, hell keep it in theatres until the sequel comes out, i'll rewatch it again

it seems like every year one horror movie and one non-horror comes out in theatres and takes permanent residence in my brain and forces me to think about it and nothing else for months on end, and i fear i've just gotten the latest addition to that list. 2024 horror: the substance non horror: challengers 2025 horror: weapons and sinners (fave one vs best one of the year, my brain couldn't pick on) non-horror: wake up dead man 2026 horror: leviticus (honorable mention for backsession but i fear leviticus takes the cake) non-horror: i love boosters isnt out near me yet but i think it'll be that or maybe sheep detectives counting from 2024 cause i used to barely watch movies and only started cinephile-ing in like 2023

ryan being (understandably) upset after finding out that naim was the one who outed him and hunter, but still having such strong love and care for him that even when he's telling naim he won't ever see or hear from him again, he's making sure naim will take care of himself and stay safe, like yes i'm extremely upset with you right now but you better stay the hell away from anyone you see that looks like me because i dont want you to get hurt by that entity even when we're not in contact omg he loves him so much and i love these characters so much, inject them into my veins

the deliverance healer being this town's evil version of an etsy witch omg who even is this guy and where did they find him??? evil ed and lorraine warren dupe, cause he puts demons into the kids instead of taking them out bro how'd you get his job??? does he have a website or something? what are his credentials, someone answer me quickly. did anyone vet him at all? get him out of here and away from these kids, ryanaim get behind me, i dont trust anyone around you

leviticus (2026) spoilers cause i finally locked the fuck in and watched it the resolution being it's not undoable, or reversible, the entity isn't going to go away and the people around us will continue to believe in the necessity of it, but instead of choosing to live in fear of it we can choose each other, and find peace in the love we have for each other, and we can find our way to be free. holy fucking shit, 2 australian dollars and a dream, 5 total cast members, and a frank ocean song, and they pulled it off, fuck. happy fucking last day of pride month to me. gonna cry in a corner now.

liked and commented on one too many posts about leviticus (2026) before the movie was even out cause i was so excited about a queer horror movie and the horror genre in general getting so much love and now tumblr keeps showing me mini spoilers and posts about it so i need to hurry the fuck up and actually watch the movie, fuck😭
