Reseller have completely changed the sneaker game. Sneaker heads have either found their way into the reselling industry or have ended their collection because of it. Sneakers by luxury designers and rappers have created a frenzy for the reselling game. People have found ways to buy several pairs of sneakers and flip the amount making the shoe worth hundreds, even thousands. Online reselling platforms have been created to make it easier for people to distribute product and gain profit. I remember when I was younger I had a better chance standing on line during sneaker releases than ordering online. Resellers used advanced technology known as a "bot" to hack the system of sneaker sites during release dates.

My blog will focus on how resellers made sneakers value increase by thousands. I have provided several images of sneakers that have had an insane increase in price. Below are Youtube video links from sellers who have made profits and easy transactions with platforms such as GOAT, Flight Club, and Stockx.

GOAT was founded in 2015 by Eddy Lu and Daishin Sugano. It’s a global platform between the primary and resale market. The business has gained a strong following among the sneaker culture. GOAT has over $100 million in funding, 12 million users, a large inventory of over 400,000 pairs of sneakers for sale, and over 600 employees.

“Urban culture has always had an epochal influence on the sneaker industry which helped the company raise $100 million in its series E funding round. Since hip-hop loves to talk about their limited sneakers, it helped to create market envy and a reason for platforms like Goat to exist.” said by CEO CultureBanx, Kori Hale.

The founder of Flight Club is Damany Weir. The company was founded in New York, NY in 2005. There hasn’t been much talk about the seller side of Flight Club. Sellers have the cosignment option with the company to sell the sneakers. With Flight Club stores located in different areas people are buying straight from the source, but the high reselling prices remain the same. During an anatomy of anonymous sneaker resellers in Stockx news, one mentioned:

Stockx was founded in 2015 by Josh Luber, Dan Gilbert, Greg Schwartz, and Chris Kaufman. Stockx is an online marketplace of buying and selling sneakers, streetwear, watches, and designer bags. The online marketplaces has a startup value at $2.8 billion.

25% of items sold on Stockx are sold for less than retail price. That leaves 75% of items to be priced either same as retail or hundreds more. Sellers are only charged 9.5% transaction fees which decrease as the seller sells more merchandise.

“I've also had a fantastic experience. I've sold almost 70 items and have only had one returned to me. It was due to my own negligence, there was some sock lint inside the pair of sneakers that indicated them being worn. They charged me for the return shipping, which is fair, was my own fault at the end of the day. If you properly inspect your items, verify dead-stock condition, and package & ship them properly... I think you will have a fantastic experience as a seller 99.9% of the time.”

The Air Jordan 11's "Concord," were released a couple times over the years and resellers still managed to get these sneakers at a price higher than retail. The 2011 "Concord" features white mesh and black patent leather upper with dark concord accents and blue-tinted icy outsole. They were released on December 23, 2011 at a retail price of $180. The 2011 version of the sneakers can be found on GOAT, but only used. Buyers are spending between $100-$1,000 USD for a pair of old and used. That's be advantage resellers have, regardless of how long they have product it can eventually sell. The concords were released again on December 8, 2020 at select Jordan brand retailers and Stockx. For a new pair on GOAT buyers are spending no more than $2,000 (depending on size). A used pair would cost between $100-600 USD.

2018 JORDAN 11 CONCORD REVIEW AND ON FOOT IN 4K

The Ben & Jerry's x Nike SB Dunks Low "Chunky Dunky." Released on May 23, 2020 at the retail price of $100. They were available in select Nike SB Skate shops and Nike SNKRS. The shoe has vivid colors and drippy Swoosh seeping through the algorithm. The Chunky Dunky's can be found on Flight Club for no more than $10,000. The price fluctuates depending on the size but buyers are spending no less than $2,500 USD for these sneakers. Resellers have flipped an $100 pair of sneakers to a sneaker worth thousands.

ARE THE BEN & JERRY'S NIKE SB DUNK LOW CHUNKY DUNKY SNEAKERS WORTH THE HYPE?!

The YEEZY Slide Bone created by Kanye West. The slippers were released on April 16, 2020 on the adidas web store and YEEZY Supply. The adult-sized pairs cost $55UDS, kids retailed at $45USD and infants at $35 USD. Reseller have found a way to make buyers pay thousands more than that amount just for slides. The Bone slides are selling for a high of $1,000,000 for a 9.5M on Stockx. With a low of $467 for a 5M.
