When I was a kid, the "Oh my god, you got so big!" comment from grown-ups used to really annoy me, because it felt broadly infantilising. But now, as an adult myself, I realise it had very little to do with me, and almost everything to do with said grown-up feeling suddenly attacked by the passage of time, yet not wanting to blurt out "shit, fuck, I just pissed away like four years of my life without noticing, then, huh?" in front of an 8-year-old.
Inside Out (2015) Dir. Pete Docter

every person can feel freddie’s presence in their souls when they sing MAMAAAAAA UUHHHH, I DONT WANNA DIE, I SOMETIMES I WISH I’VE NEVER BEEN BORN AT ALL with all the air in their lungs i’m not joking
it’s fucking crazy to think about the amount of people who have sung bohemian rhapsody? like it’s such a unifying song, by nature of the fact that so many people know it. it holds so many good memories for me and other people. it’s a song you scream in the car with your friends while you drive around your boring hometown, it’s a song you drunkenly sing with your arm around your best friend, or a song you sing along to with strangers when it’s on in public. it’s bittersweet to think about freddie’s legacy carrying on like that through his masterpiece. freddie carries on because he’s a part of so many people’s good memories and bohemian rhapsody is a huge part of that.
Reblog if you have sung bohemian rhapsody with your friends
every time i see this post i’m reminded of the video of 65,000 people singing bohemian rhapsody in near-perfect harmony
like, what other song can make that claim?
Some of the highlights of that video include:
The crowd cheering after the first stanza when they realize what they’re all doing
So many people audibly ‘doing the guitar parts’… like ya do
The sheer number of voices joining the rediculous falsetto (thanks, Roger)
How they all start jumping at the ramp-up “so you think you can stomp me”
Hands up, hundreds, thousands deep for the final “ooooo”s and the last line to close the song
Only days before my state went into lockdown, “Bohemian Rhapsody” came on in the restaurant kitchen I’d just been hired at and, no shit, every single worker in that little diner started singing along. Me (the only queer afaik), the manager, all the other kitchen workers, the dishwasher up front, the two people on the counter, all but two of the men over 30. Just belting out Freddie Mercury at the top of their lungs. And you can bet when “sometimes I wish I’d never been born at all” came around, we every single one of us ramped up the intensity and basically made sure Freddie could hear us in the afterlife.
“you must reblog this everytime it’s on your dash”
How this show got cancelled will CONSISTENTLY boggle me
I think the people who say “You don’t need to be critical of every piece of media you consume” fundamentally misunderstand what we mean by “critical”.
When we say “be critical of the media you consume” we don’t mean “be negative” as in, find every flaw and pick it apart CinemaSins style.
We mean “examine it”. Like, look at what you are consuming, and in many cases, enjoying, and ask yourself why you are enjoying it. Ask yourself who made it. Ask yourself if you are the target audience. Ask yourself if you are being represented by the characters you see. Ask yourself if the author has biases or political leanings they are trying to include in the story.
Just, ask yourself questions. The answers don’t have to be negative. That’s not what being critical means.

No Nuance November, Beauty edition:
1. The "no makeup" makeup trend is more physiologically damaging than any full glam makeup trend will ever be
2. 98% of the skincare industry is a scam
3. People feeling empowered by wearing makeup does not negate the fact that the beauty industry exists to capitalize on the insecurities cultivated by unattainable beauty standards
4. The #1 secret beauty ingredient that will give anyone and everyone perfect skin is wealth
5. Sunscreen is the most important skincare product
6. "all women are beautiful" completely glosses over the fact that beauty is seen as the social currency that women owe to society for merely daring to exist
7. Celebs claiming to not be wearing makeup to events/on cam are lying. And even if they weren’t, everyday people cannot compete with folks that are able to blow a million at the esthetician.
8. Don’t let the people at Sephora/ulta talk you into skin care products regimens that you can’t afford. They are trained to make you spend way more money than you have and absolutely have sales goals their manager is harassing them to meet.
I pay more taxes than The Manchurian Cantaloupe!
