dick revisiting brecourt and refusing to wear wellies like everyone else bc rubber boots do NOT go with the outfit. white sneakers will be plastic wrapped!! and will be worn!! striped tops? yes, he loves them has them in varying line weights but in similar color palette.

loved a crisp white collar, dusty gray blazer and solid black tie. on the left is a photo from his dinner with ethel, grace and lewis. on the right is him in france. still handsome what can we do.

and what does he wear to his wartime situationship's 84th bday? showed up fresh in a his knitted cardi, light blue button down, white wash trousers and his (fave) pair of white sneakers. (that is our beautiful girl, ms. deetta almon on the right. mind u he gave her fresh new copies of their wartime correspondence like... wots all this then!) you can already tell he loves a light blue button down (paired it on the right with the chocolate brown a-2 jacket. winning color combo. and accessorized with confiscated fallschirmjäger gloves, because of course.)

Her college years were interrupted by Executive Order 9066, which allowed the US government to forcibly remove Japanese American citizens and relocate them to incarceration camps all over the western half of the country. Grace’s family was temporarily relocated to Santa Anita Racetrack, where she managed to retain her optimistic personality–she recalls “dancing the jitterbug at Santa Anita with [her sister] Dorothy and some ‘cute boys from Pasadena’” (quoted in her obituary). She and her family were then relocated to Colorado River Relocation Center in Arizona.

Grace was allowed to leave camp behind when she was accepted into nursing school at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where she received her degree at the age of 24. She moved to New York and worked as both a nurse and a flight attendant, proving herself to be literally the coolest lady ever!!

Grace married Lewis Nixon in 1956. They never had children, but they “often spent time with their [fourteen] nieces and nephews, teaching them cards and backgammon and playing for keeps over the children’s allowance money. Grace and Lewis traveled the world together, raised a menagerie of pets, and remained happily married for 39 years before Lewis’ death in 1995. 

Grace is featured in Ron Livingston’s Band of Brothers video diary. He describes her as an “amazing woman… smart, vibrant, has an amazing story of her own, and she helped me a lot as far as just explaining kind of what the guy [Nixon] was about.” They are pictured together below.

Idk why it just occurred to me that Grace might be referring Dick's son Richard here in "Lewis has talked so much about Dick". Dick's son's full name is Richard T. Winters, so Richard Winters III his nickname is also Dick.

At first I thought Grace was referring to our Major Dick and I was wondering they hadn't met until 1983??? but from the context it didn't make sense so I went to look up Dick's son's name, my bad I never paid attention to his name before.

So the most important thing is Nix has talked a lot about Dick's son??? When Richard was born Dick was still working for Nixon Nitration so Nix must have known him from then, I wonder who is your godfather Richard...
