What's your blog title from?

If I recall correctly, I wanted to do something that was Doc Roe-related but also had a touch of whimsy, and it just popped into my head

What movie have you watched recently?

I went to go see Spider-Man Brand New Day a few days ago

What are you looking forward to right now?

Movie night w/ a couple friends this weekend

If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?

Chill w/ friends somewhere out in nature, drink/eat my favorite foods, work on my edits in-progress with my cat snoozing next to me, and then fall asleep with my partner

What's your drink of choice?

Non-alcohol: cool water or iced coffee w/ creamer. Alcohol: if it's a party or friend's place I'll just drink whatever they have that's not beer or wine. if it's a bar or restaurant I just order whatever house cocktail sounds best, or a G&T

What's your hair routine? Anything special?

I’ve got the Bisexual Bob which is pretty low-maintenance for me. Either I'll scrunch some product into it and let it do its thing, or once it’s like 90% dry, I’ll blow dry it a bit to smooth it out.

What's your favorite way to travel? is there a mode of travel you've never done that you want to?

Car (as long as I don't have to sit in the backseat 🤢) or public transportation (as long as I have my headphones and a front-facing seat). I’d be curious to try high speed rail if the opportunity presented itself

Favorite month and why?

It's a tie between April (because the deciduous trees are green again, and everything’s starting to sprout &/or bloom) and October (because of the fall colors, Halloween, and the expanded wardrobe options created by the cooling weather)

Favorite time of day and why?

Dusk, especially in the summer, when the sun isn't blasting anymore but there's still enough light and warmth to comfortably chill outside.

Do you play or follow any sports?

I follow soccer when there’s a World Cup (men’s or women’s)

What type of music is stuck in your head a lot lately?

Often, but by no means exclusively, stuff that falls somewhere in the vague realm of the alternative pop and rock

Dishes or laundry?

Dishes, but only bc I’m pretty scrupulous about rinsing and pre-soaking things, which makes it significantly easier 😇

I have just three degrees of separation from Desmond Tutu

If you give a TED talk about anything, what would you talk about?

Tbh I am not sure if there's anything I'd feel confident or qualified to present to the world on a platform like that. But if somebody forced me up onto a TED talk stage... I guess I might offer some of my go-to mental health coping hacks

What's a piece of advice do you find yourself giving a lot?

People usually do what they’re going to do anyways (even when they specifically say they want advice) so I attempt to just go with a “guiding questions” approach like:

"What about this situation is within your control?/What's happened in the past when you did xyz thing?/Would you do this thing even if you didn't have to?"

What's a piece of advice you would give yourself five years ago?

Get back into therapy (and don't sell yourself short)

Are you musical (Play any instruments or sing)? Would you ever perform for an audience?

I used to play piano and bass guitar. I've performed both for an audience, and if I still played, I’d be down for doing it again (tho only as part of a band)

What do you wish someone would ask you?

Well... I've occasionally wondered if I should make some kind of a post about my gifmaking process. I wouldn't bother (there's many excellent tutorials out there already!) except that the way I make my gifs is different and (I think) significantly simpler, and it has occurred to me that if it sharing my process makes it possible for more people who'd like to make gifs to do so, then it would be very worthwhile. But I don't think I can't justify the time and energy it would take to make the tutorial post if no one asks. So… do I wish someone would ask me? Kinda no, but kinda yes?

hair color - brown (fun fact: this is the first time since I was in 6th grade that my hair is completely its natural color)

favorite drink - oof, this is too hard to pick

one thing you love about yourself - my ability to make other people laugh

if you could be any animal, what would it be? - I'd probably be happiest as a house-cat, or as a protected species of bird (so that I could shit on rich people and politicians I hate, to embarrass them and ruin their day without repercussions)

dream place to visit - this is probably a weird answer, but if I could choose anywhere to visit it would be the house that used to belong to my grandparents- to see and smell and feel everything familiar in it, and just fully marinate myself in nostalgia

what's one thing you're looking forward to right now? - my disability hearing being over (I've been waiting for almost a year, and now it's in one and a half weeks!) If it goes well, I'll be over the moon and it'll be life-changing. If it doesn't go well, then at least the suspense of waiting for it will be over.

your biggest dream - to see this country make enough progress in a direction that will (for once) make me feel hopeful for the future, and feel like the generations after me are gonna have good lives (crossing my fingers for them to get either a libertarian socialist solarpunk utopia or fully automated luxury gay space communism lol)
