Well, the headcanons keep going, guys — maybe someday I’ll write out the lore of the characters from my AU.

Strade (Hans Strudelman)

Facts:

Strad’s habit of smelling his victims’ hair took root in his childhood and has now become an integral part of his grim ritual. This gesture takes just a few seconds, but it gives him a rush of emotions that even intimacy can’t provide. The scent of hair acts as a powerful stimulant for him — akin to nicotine: it instantly awakens forgotten memories, heightens his senses, and creates the illusion of complete control over the situation. Compared to this, intimacy seems bland and lacking true depth.

Although Strade disposes of many bodies by burning them, he doesn’t treat all of them this way: he prefers to use Bistkins for supplies in his small business. Besides engineering, he runs a shawarma stall — thanks to this, people don’t suspect he’s a maniac. He sells food in crowded places. According to the universe’s lore, people don’t accept Bistkins as part of normal society, so the disappearance of one of them doesn’t raise any concerns, while other Bistkins are forced to live in fear. Meanwhile, Strade makes a decent profit from this.

Strade has a small hobby — he collects knives of various types. This passion emerged after his return from the army, where he first saw the battlefield. Despite the experience he gained, his country ultimately suffered defeat.

Within this alternate universe, Strade took part in a war that never existed in reality. Despite his oddness, he found a loyal ally — Raven, who decided to protect her people from attacks. Over time, during one of their sorties, they were captured and taken prisoner. The captivity was brutal: they were tormented, forced to reveal all secrets and conspiracies. After spending several months there, Strade suffered severe consequences: he developed a fear of being tied up, and a mark of shame was left on his body — a kind of tattoo serving as a reminder of his guilt for his friend’s death (this detail is elaborated in the lore). In the end, he accepted himself as a loser and a true monster.

Ren Hana — My headcanons:

-Strade sets a cruel rule: a victim who survives in the basement for 3 days becomes his “pet” — a submissive servant. Those who give up sooner are ruthlessly killed by him, and their bodies are disposed of in a pottery kiln. As for those who die after becoming a “pet”, Strade allows Ren to bury them.

-Taking on the role of a gravedigger, Ren carries out this grim duty with conflicting emotions: sometimes he cries over a fresh grave, while at other times he’s overwhelmed with anger at Strade for his senseless cruelty. After completing a burial, he carefully plants wildflowers on each grave — a fragile symbol of remembrance for those who were once living companions, now lying underground not far from Strade’s secluded house by the highway.

-Ren’s world is limited to the territory of Strade’s house and street. He never leaves this space: he doesn’t go to shops, doesn’t interact with the locals, and doesn’t appear near the highway. All contact with the outside world goes through Strade — he brings back food, tools, and spare parts after his trips. Ren’s daily life revolves around maintaining this closed‑off world. His life is a cycle of repetitive actions, but for Ren it provides a fragile sense of stability. As long as he’s useful, as long as he performs his duties flawlessly, he remains “needed” — and therefore in relative safety, and still alive.

-Ren is able to transform into a giant fox, but an electronic collar blocks this ability. When he attempts to transform, the device doesn’t just send a pain impulse — it starts to tighten, threatening to strangle Ren. Because of this, he never tries to fully unleash his beastly power.

-The field near Strade’s house has become a strange symbol of both death and life for Ren. Occasionally, when Strade is relaxing outside or in a good mood, he allows Ren to go out into the field next to his house. For Ren, this is both a duty and a rare gift of freedom. Although he did try to escape that way the first time, he was severely punished. And because of the collar, he can’t get far
