"Black Sheep Sequels"

A trio consisting of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy movies (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker). Their name comes from how the Star Wars fandom rejects the existence of the sequels and pretend they're not apart of the franchise, thus the 'Black Sheep' part.

All this about "Rey is a Mary Sue". If Mary Sue ever met Rey, they would ramble about the things they like and slowly become best friends.

The most widely hated trope in all of fiction, even uttering the name itself brings fear in people. They say they will ruin an entire story forever, some say they could reality bend the universe into an oblivion. Despite this, nobody seems to agree what a Mary Sue is.

So, after we decide to harass female actors, bully weird kids, fear morgering female writers and discouraging people from writing female characters at all, we have concluded...

Huh?

There's no answer?

That's strange. Everybody hates it but nobody could agree on what counts as a Mary Sue! We all threw labels at characters that have a weird design or questionable writing quality that we often forget what a Mary Sue actually is.

Maybe we should be a little kinder towards Mary Sues so we can finally have a proper discussion without making fun of beginner writers who don't know better. Especially that there's a rumour that a girl with white ribbons from the Poet's Vocational School is a Mary Sue and will cause problems without her realizing it!

i've even gone far enough to try either lifting some of the characters or making my own spin/spiritual successor of the story just becaus e of how interesting i find just how much opinions on mary sues have changed with time and like. part of me wonders if more would develop or change in turn to reflect this, had the ending been different (or not so different!)

(not even saying this like the ending or story direction was bad!! it definitely isn't!! i'm just the type that finds myself thinking too much and imagining au potential for the stupidest little details)

Funny enough when I made my own Mary Sue project oc (technically it's a more tropes centered story but Mary is the main protagonist), I didn't even know Ensign Sue was a thing. I was researching Mary Sue one day (albeit ignoring the character examples bc they're really terrible) and I saw one of the comic panels and thought the artstyle was really cute. I looked it up and now it changed my brain chemistry.

I was struggling to decide how Tropes x Narratives Project's direction would be, atleast I have a little inspiration :-)

Anyways, hello Ensign Sue fandom that's very very niche
