Favourite Snape quote or any saying by him?
Itâs hard to choose one from all his amazing quotes. His Potions speech in the first book and bits about mind-reading and Occlumency in the fifth book are the best in my opinion. I love his snarky remarks, so, if I had to pick some, I would say these:
âWhat would your head have been doing in Hogsmeade, Potter? Your head is not allowed in Hogsmeade. No part of your body has permission to be in Hogsmeade.â
âOh, very good, Yes, it is easy to see that nearly six years of magical education have not been wasted on you, Potter. Ghosts are transparent.â
âWould you like me to do it now? Or would you like a few moments to compose an epitaph?â
SO good. I am partial to the scene in HBP when Harry is running after him after Dumbledoreâs death and Snape is blocking all of his spells. He protects Harry and at the same time tries desperately to teach him, even in that moment. Reminding him NOT to telegraph all of his spells. Begging him to remember his occlumency. Even in that moment when Harry wants to kill him, heâs trying to tell him how to survive. To me, itâs one of the greatest moments of Snape risking everything he can, in front of death eaters, to teach Harry, to protect him and give him important advice, even if Harry doesnât get it.Â
âNO unforgivable curses from you, Potter, you havenât got the nerve or ability!â
âBlocked again and again and again until you learn to keep your mouth shut and your mind closed, Potter.â âNo! âŚÂ âHave you forgotten your orders? Potter belongs to the Dark Lord- we are to leave him. Now go! Go! This whole exchange to me is so incredibly protective. Heâs trying desperately to send a message to Harry- to protect him from having to kill. From warning him that his recklessness will get him killed if he doesnât try and remember the Occlumency, and then to protect him from the Death Eaters attempting to harm him. The whole time Harry is sending curses, but he is casually blocking them, and then he basically finishes with a stinging hex to knock him on his ass so he listens and it keeps the other Death Eaters away. To me itâs the most overtly protective Snape ever gets. His final lesson to Harry.
Also, I never get tired of the first year Potionâs speech, it is epic.Â
i so agree and these are EXCELLENT additions. snape doesnât communicate in a typical manner to begin with and people, especially the kids he teaches, hardly understand his true meaning and intentions, but add to that the subterfuge he has to do just so he or anyone else, especially potter, doesnât get killedâŚthe fact that he always tried to deflect attention off of harry and remind him and protect him, and that he was able to do it again and again despite it being extremely difficult and sometimes while in the most precarious situationsâŚitâs incredible.Â
