“Where did siriusandjames get off to?” Peter would ask Remus late at night when he found both their beds empty.
“Did siriusandjames go to quidditch practice early today?” Marlene would ask Peter and Remus nearly every Saturday after second year.
“Tell siriusandjames to just leave Severus alone already!” Lily had shouted to Remus at least twice a year before she finally let go of who she wanted Snape to be and saw who he really was.
“siriusandjames get down here and explain this right now” Mrs. Potter would yell up the stairs on Summer holidays.
“siriusandjames went that way” Remus would say to McGonagall without looking up from whatever book he was reading.
“siriusandjames are speaking about it” Remus had muttered to Peter, tears in his eyes, that awful morning in fifth year when he had woken to a new scar and Snape’s screams burned into his mind.
Sometimes it was blackandpotter.
“blackandpotter may I remind you that I have the power to separate you if you keep acting like fools in my classroom” McGonagall would say every. single. lesson. She never did separate them.
“Ah blackandpotter gonna try out for the quidditch team? Didn’t think you had it in you,” The quidditch captain had said their second year.
“Well with blackandpotter tormenting me,” could be heard in the halls from one Severus Snape a couple times a year.
“blackandpotter had the highest defense scores this year” a ravenclaw had said, shocked in their fourth year.
“blackandpotter i hope you take your studies more seriously when OWL’s roll around” Slughorn said, irritation tainting his voice.
“It was definitely blackandpotter” would be whispered every morning after another grand prank was pulled after curfew.
It was never just Sirius. Never just James. Or Black. Or Potter.
No, it was always siriusandjames or blackandpotter.
