These are all for my own interpretation of A, real name: Alexander Auburn. I'll try to elaborate on some of these and others will probably be self-explanatory. I guess you could consider this a proto-character guide lol
His birthday is 7-13-1983
25% English, 50% Greek, and 25% Italian
Parents were extremely impoverished
His father worked a dead-end job and his mother was unemployed. After having Alexander, they tried their best to take care of him but ultimately put him up for adoption due to financial burdens. He was later found by Watari at the group home he was put in. The Auburns were never told of what became of their son.
He arrived at Wammy's House when he was 6 with several other children around the globe
He spent his personal time in the Wammy's library collecting books
When he and the other kids weren't locked in a classroom, they'd have free time to do as they pleased. A would recall names related to the cases they had all gone over in their classes and find books related to them. Be it books about serial killers, the detectives who catch them, the victims, the crime scenes, all of the above, or just books of his own interests. One such book was "Insufficient Relaxation," by Permit Winter. After finding what he wanted, he'd try to spend the rest of his time in his designated room doing assignments and reading when he wasn't dealing with B's maniacle antics.
Sometimes he'd visit a canal behind Wammy's because he enjoyed the scenery
His favorite fruit is oranges π
He loves oranges, orange-flavored sweets, orange juice, the works.
He and B would constantly butt heads in class
Being the top successors in the first generation, they'd always compete. They'd often go days without sleeping just to see who would do better on their next test.A was not particularly fond of the constant competition but it also kept him on his toes. Plus, he knew Beyond took these things very seriously so he'd play along despite noticing both of them losing their drives as they got older.
He was quite fond of animals, primarily cats
He'd receive congratulatory letters from L about his progress
He and B would sneak off during food periods to be by themselves
Even though they competed in class, they weren't unfriendly and could go on for hours about deep subjects if given the time.
He first hurt himself at 14
The constant stress of the Wammy's House curriculum on top of being the most likely candidate to succeed the world's greatest detective began weighing on him early in his teenage years. The house was cold and not concerned with the collective mental state of the children at the time. Not that A would want them to be. He found the prospect of unloading his emotions on someone else to be meaningless (this will be touched on later). As he got older, Alexander grew more fascinated with crime scenes related to murder investigations and human anatomy. One day, when he was 14, he found himself leaking his own blood on to the carpet next to his bed frame; both in an attempt to alleviate stress and understand anatomy better in his own twisted way. It was around this time that B started looking at him with a colder expression, as if "Backup" knew something that "Alternative" did not. There was no shortage of monsters in the original generation.
He grew to have a chip on his shoulder regarding his ranking in the house compared to his peers
By 16, academic burnout hit him and it hit him hard
He had spent practically every second of his life trying his best and being top of his class became the standard both he and the Wammy's staff set for him. Eventually, it caught up with him and set him even further into his harmful tendencies. He went from studying constantly to feeling like he was running out of time. His bedroom ceiling had never been so captivating.
He never really saw the point in anything. Being exposed to all the criminal cases he had been exposed to, he and several others were constantly reminded of how possible death is. No one is invincible. Not even L. "Everyone has an expiration date," as B would often put it. So what happens the day L kicks the bucket? Someone will have to take his place. That's what A had been set up for his entire life. A human what-if. What if L died? A could only succeed in life if that what-if came to pass. Even if L did die, what makes anyone think A will do any better? If the great L could not succeed then how on Earth could his cheap imitation? What purpose did A's life really serve? What purpose did anyone's life serve if they are to end up as rotting corpses in the dirt? It was all meaningless to Alexander Auburn.
He'd often write his work on the desk itself instead of paper
He recognized the feint scent of blood gathered from an animal on Beyond's clothes sometimes
Younger kids that were brought to Wammy's would feel uncomfortable around him thanks to his scars which he never tried to hide
He really likes Nirvana despite not being huge on music
As he and the other kids got older, he started to realize B was smarter than him
Days before his death, B said A's name to him
"How does he know my name," A thought to himself. "Nobody does."
He committed suicide shortly after turning 18
Alexander Auburn took his own life on August 22nd, 2001, unable to take the pressure of being L's successor any longer. He had been talking to B for days. Not about anything super important, just their own respective outlooks on life. A knew what would happen and, somehow, it seemed like B knew it too. B never even tried to talk him out of it. He was indifferent. "B's better at this stuff anyway," A told himself. His room was silent. The pen on his desk layed still. The birds outside continued to chirp. The trees continued to sway. The only noise that remained was the running drips of blood on his floor and B saw all of it. "Sweet dreams, 'Alternative'."
In May of the following year, Beyond Birthday left Wammy's House.
Maybe I'll make more soon idk. This is all I got for now lol
