Some houses have a story thatâs impossible to ignore. For the owners of Island Crest in Mercer Island, Washington, it started with a 1958 home filled with character, Pacific Northwest craftsmanship, and a magnificent magnolia tree standing proudly in the front yard. Working with ONOMA Architecture, they set out to transform the aging residence into a forever home for their growing family without losing the qualities that first captured their attention --Â via contemporist

Perched high above Singapore, Hillside House by Guz Architects takes full advantage of a challenging hilltop site to create a remarkable multi-generational family home. The residence transforms a steep slope into a series of cascading gardens, pools, terraces, and open-air spaces, all while capturing sweeping views across the city.
The design uses the siteâs dramatic elevation to create layers of greenery and water that extend from the ground level all the way to the rooftop. Open circulation spaces, ponds, and gardens help channel cooling breezes through the home, reducing the need for air conditioning while making the most of Singaporeâs tropical climate --Â via contemporist

Designed by Farmer Payne Architects with interiors by The Picket Fence Interior Design Studio, White Clouds sits on a double lot along the edge of a golf course in Idaho. From the very beginning, the siteâs sloping terrain influenced the design. Instead of resisting the hillside, the home follows it, stepping down across two levels that separate gathering spaces from private areas while maintaining easy connections between them.
What appears modest from the street gradually reveals itself as the land falls away. Views stretch east toward the valley and Proctor Mountain, while the architecture uses the siteâs natural contours to organize the home in a way that feels intuitive and efficient --Â via contemporist

In Prahran, Victoria, architecture and interior design firm Wood Marsh completed No. 6 Sydney Street, a residential building that blurs the line between architecture and sculpture. Developed in collaboration with V-Leader, the project introduces a striking new presence to the streetscape through a composition of flowing forms, curved surfaces, and finely crafted details.
Home to a collection of residences, the building immediately stands apart from its more rectilinear neighbors. Its asymmetrical form appears as though it has been carved from a single piece of material, creating an organic expression that feels fluid from every angle. Inspired by natural forms, the design brings movement and softness to an urban setting while establishing a strong architectural identity --Â via contemporist
