@redromanmarius liked for a starter !
It's been fairly nice, having the house to himself. He isn't quite sure where the human he'd been rooming with vanished too, but frankly, it's not really his business and he doesn't find himself caring much. It leaves more space for his projects while offering an actual respite from everything. Also, it means there's no need to label things, such as snacks or food - which he's just went and done a grocery run for! Normal things for normal monsters to do that make him feel like he's almost normal himself.
Briefly fumbling with his keys, the door unlocks and swings open, revealing... another human in the home. This one in strange attire he can't recall seeing outside of human history books. Closing the door behind him with his foot, he sets down the bags so he can properly engage the situation.
"Hello. Are you meant to be here? You have not gotten lost on the way to a.. convention of some manner?"
Marius looked up and frowned "Convention?.... What?" "You carry yourself with ease for one who returns to a claimed home. Tell meāare you the master of this place?"
His voice is low, firm, shaped by years of command and discipline. Thereās no immediate threat in his tone, but the tension beneath it simmers like a drawn bowstring.
His eyes sweep over the groceries, then the keys, then the monsterās posture.
"Youāre no servant. Nor a thief. You walk like you belong."
A pause. The silence stretches.
"Then perhaps you can explain what sorcery has brought me here⦠wherever here is."
Marius didn't have his armor or even his gladius and he looked more confused and tense than anything.
"Start talking. Or you'll find that Rome teaches all her sons how to fight in tight quarters."
