Faces of Anal

Here’s another tidbit of Faces of Anal trivia - our greatest sources of visitors over the years. Besides other Tumblr blogs, we got the most visits from the Reddit sub for painal: https://www.reddit.com/r/painal/

Ironically, note that you won’t find any Faces of Anal posts tagged with the “painal” term. Painal often means porn focused on punishing a woman (almost always it’s hetero), or where anal sex is being done as a “surprise” or without consent. Faces of Anal has never supported that approach to anal play. We believe the anal receiver should be in control and feeling pleasure (unless, of course, it’s in the context of bdsm play where the receiver has consented to give over control to the dominant partner, under explicitly negotiated consensual terms). The Tumblr blog that sent the most visitors our way was:

Wow, what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Looks like Tumblr has gotten too big for its britches. A platform hugely boosted by porn blogs is now going to forsake that whole sector of its users.  The Tumblr CEO himself presents their reasons for doing so in a post titled A better, more positive Tumblr. Gag me with a spoon, you judgmental shit: body-positive porn DOES make Tumblr a better and more positive place. Bottom line of their reasoning seems to be explained in this sentence of the post: “It became clear that without [adult content] we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.” So, apparently, the presence of adult content on Tumblr is making some unspecified class of people uncomfortable about expressing themselves. Only once we clear out all the bad, negative adult content can these precious flowers bloom in full and finally express themselves on Tumblr.... yay!

For specifics about “what is changing?”, the post refers to the newly updated Community Guidelines. Scroll down there to their definition of “Adult Content”, and you can read their definition of what they include:

Adult Content. Don't upload images, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples —this includes content that is so photorealistic that it could be mistaken for featuring real-life humans (nice try, though). Certain types of artistic, educational, newsworthy, or political content featuring nudity are fine. Don’t upload any content, including images, videos, GIFs, or illustrations, that depicts sex acts.

Note that they say nothing about text content. So the First-Time Anal Stories can stay. And I suppose some of the advice column reposts can stay (unless they show, gasp, illustrations of human gentials). And perhaps some of the faces-only Faces of Anal pictures, if the sex acts themselves are not shown, might be able to stay.

But let’s face it, you all don’t come here just to read the articles. And so this is the end of an era. Faces of Anal doesn’t exist anywhere else online. Once this blog is gutted, it likely won’t ever exist again. For all the assurance of data integrity that cloud-based computing is supposed to afford us, here is a reminder of how ephemeral all our efforts can become, should the powers-that-be decide it’s time to pull the plug.
