In 1971, French artist Philippe Druillet illustrated Elric le Necromancien from text by Michael Moorcock. This was later reprinted as Elric: The Return to Melnibone in English. Somehow, the story was completely unauthorized and lawsuits followed, so the story more or less disappeared after those two printings and is now difficult to find. Additionally, Druillet had the odd habit of depicting Elric with a jewel embedded in his forehead, a trait almost certainly drawn from one of Moorcoc’s other Eternal Champions, Dorian Hawkmoon.

Druillet’s fascination with Elric remained though, and he recycled many of those Elric le Necromancien pages into his epic Yragael which originally appeared in the pages of Metal Hurlant magazine in France and Heavy Metal  in the United States.Yragael was also collected with a companion story Urm in the U.S. and published as a book by Dragon’s Dream in 1975.

both love the most adult lives out of the mane 6. Both operate businesses and pour insane amounts of effort into them, being willing to work themselves ragged to meet the demands of their position.

both are from Ponyville. They’re the ONLY two who are both from Ponyville. The other four have come from other origins, but Rarity and Applejack would both know the same schoolhouse. The same creeks. The same marshy way the border of the everfree smells when it rains.

Both have built themselves into the person they want to be. Applejack has chosen that orchard as her world, and made herself around pride in that choice… and Rarity has chosen ambition as hers, crafting her entire self anew from the desire for social mobility.

that is perhaps the greatest difference between them. Comfort in their origins. Where one would rather die than deny her parentage, the other cringes any time she catches a hint of whinneapolis phrasing in her carefully crafted accent. And yet both have deep pride in who they are and who they choose to be.

Look, I know it's a preference thing, i really hope i'm not sounding like someone trying to establish their views as the one right position.

Another thing is, almost anyone from the Mane 6 can be seen as egotistical or hard to be around in some way, if the right clips are used. The same way, it can be argued that RD is actually a pony who passionately trained to join the Wonderbolts and who, despite her shortcomings, is ultimately loyal to her friends the same way AJ is to her family.

I think that, because MLP characters are so malleable and archetypical, it's hard to find a ship that is ultimately wrong if it isn't straight up immoral. It comes down to what you wanna see rather than to what could be the true reality. I like rarijack fine, and @bixels interpretation gives it even more strength, but i still dig "cowboy x daredevil" more.
