❛    y-yeah ??    thanks    …    ❜    for the first time in a while    ,    he’s caught off guard    .    you see    ,    his intentions were to tease his companion    ,    to coax out a reaction after having taken hat    ,    but this ?    he didn’t expect red to speak    ,    let alone compliment him so genuinely    .    so    ,    he blushes    ,    tipping the end of the hat so that it covered part of his eyes    ,    oh yeah !    his eyes !    how could he forget red’s eyes ?

from his back pocket    ,    the battle legend pulls out his sunglasses and slides them over red’s nose    ;    after all    ,    the sun was harsh and he’d already taken his hat    ,    the last thing he wanted was for red to go without.

HIS FACE SHOWS GENUINE delight as red watches  ,  he finds comfort in the fact that blue seems just as awkward as he feels at his praise  .  there’s a light twitch of a smirk  ,  just enough to ghost across features  .  oh  ,  yes  .  he can play that game  .

behind sunglasses  ,  he blinks  .  (  so  ,  this is what it’s like to see through his eyes....  )  he has to admit quietly to himself  ,  it’s making his chest feel stupidly fluttery  .  of course  ,  now he doesn’t have his hat to hide behind  .

THERE’S A TWITCH OF a smile on his face  .  it’s the smallest gesture  ,  something so minuscule that there’s no real need for him to have as much of a reaction as he does  .  but a flush creeps onto his cheeks and blossoms to his ears  .
