Wallace Wells is Scott Pilgrim's cool gay roommate; they met in college. Although he and Scott are just friends, they share a double bed (as they cannot afford two seperate beds), while living together, nearly all of the furniture in their apartment was owned by Wallace. While he jokingly shows interest in Scott on several occasions, Wallace is almost always seen to be in a relationship with many other male characters throughout the series. Wallace is very open about his homosexuality, and almost always displays a snarky yet easy going personality. While Wallace does make fun of his friends, namely Scott, he is shown to have a genuine sense of care towards them, expressed most prominently through his hatred of Envy Adams on Scott’s behalf. When his and Scott’s landlord gave them notice to move out, Wallace encouraged Scott to take his relationship with Ramona Flowers to the next level of maturity. Later he reveals that he has already signed a lease with his boyfriend Mobile so he is not available to be Scott's roommate even if Scott can't mature. His character is based on real-life Beguiling Manager Chris Butcher, who was Bryan Lee O'Malley's former roommate.

Back in my TomTord days, I always hated those AUs that contain abuse and stuff, since my AUs back then were Family AUs like Skimson or Zoyberg and I liked wholesome moments.

At the time, I had the same opinion you quoted: where "all the ships are abusive because they all tried to kill each other in some way", but nowadays, my opinion is a bit different.

For example, I don't see TordEdd as abusive, but the fact that they've already been in hospital because of a fucking bacon, I would already consider this ship, not as "abusive", but as unhealthy, since I imagine that they would fight over stupid things.

i need to highlight that the point of this is not that ''all of them are equally abusive therefore its ok'' its ''slapstick is not abuse and to treat comedic and exaggerated depictions of physical violence as such completely undermines what abuse actually is''. tomtord, within the show itself, is not abusive just because they disagree with each other and had an altercation in the final episode however a GOOD CHUNK of tomtord shippers will go out of their way to depict it as abusive ANYWAY, with aus where they exploit, manipulate and physically assault one another which is what im referring to.

furthermore i think the idea that fighting or arguing with your partner is unhealthy needs to be completely squashed. physically hurting and insulting your partner? FOR SURE, BAD. but to think that fighting with your partner is unhealthy just sets an unrealistic and unobtainable standard for relationships. people disagree, and they lose their temper, raise their voices and debate on whos right or wrong. they get frustrated with each other, disagree and can hurt each others feelings. to leave those things unresolved is certainly unhealthy, but the average couple will talk these things out, apologise to one another and come to a conclusion. fighting =/= automatically unhealthy.

hospitalising each other over bacon is a cartoony, exaggerated slapstick fight between two teenaged boys for entertainment and not an actual depiction of an unhealthy and abusive relationship. just as daffy and bugs bunny hitting each other with mallets is not abusive because the intent is comedy and entertainment, not a dive into how your actions affect the people you care about. taking eddsworld at face value wont provide you with any meaningful commentary on important discussions because eddsworld is, quite literally, just not that deep. and as such, neither are the ships. to make eddsworld deep you have to bend, twist and mould it into some kind of au, and its the same way with the ships. to make tomtord, tordedd, tomatt, tomedd, whatever else you can think of, abusive; YOU need to make it that way because the show is literally never going to provide you with that, because its not the series to be doing that shit.

There’s some strange content out there for all eddsworld ships because this is a strange community but tomtord is consistent and prevalent and has a reputation. Don’t compare canon slapstick to strangely dark aus. Compare the canon to the canon, and fanon to fanon.

Honestly, the only reason I think people see tom and tord hating each other more than other pairings is that The End was framed as well… a conclusion. The finality of it felt CANON. Important. Before they were just bickering over politics or whatever in BTS. It was looser. I think that’s the main reason that this particular pairing is taken into considerably more toxic directions. Tord and Edd’s fight was one short and didn’t last. Tom and Tord’s fight blew up the house permanently.
