Hey, I wanted to ask you, as you seem like a cool person and an up and coming artist even if it's not SFM your stuff is great! I wanted to know, what's your thoughts on the recent posts about SFM and that one guy who made indigo and many others either quit or feel like they can't use SFM anymore to express themselves.I think it's horrible to see artists made to feel that way or feel they need to use something 'bigger' I love their stuff all the same no matter the system :'( Whats your thoughts?
I think that we are all a few years away from using outdated systems in any microcosm.Ā Ā Heck what I make movies with now I used to make movies 5-7+ years ago too.Ā
Sometimes programs evolve, or you find ways to improve graphics or your editing gets better, but eventually all forms of creation become outdated.Ā But that doesnāt mean there isnāt beauty to be found in creating with them.Ā It doesnāt mean youāre less of an artist because your models donāt look 4K, with perfect hair physics and microscopic zoom in feature ^_^
Artists that utilize as much as they can, regardless of how much they have, always create it as a representation and expression of the vision they want to bring forth.
So whether or not the artists uses models that have been reused over and over, whether they create new models, whether their models or environments are SUPER specific and detailed, or not.Ā That work comes from the artistĀ and it is beautiful because of that.Ā
When I look at Indigoās old stuff, or I look at Nylās new work such as the Whiteout.Ā Or even the older stuff like The Valentine.Ā
Iām not thinking about.. the fact that they did it in SFM :)Ā Iām thinking about what theyāve created and the story theyāre trying to tell, and how they find a way to translate it :)Ā
When I see the amazing animation skills of Laraās expressions, Iām not thinking about where it was made, Iām thinking about how beautiful and well captured those expressions are :)Ā Ā How they make me reflect and make me relate to the many traffic jamās Iāve been in :)
When I think about the thoughts going through her mind as she watches the couple in the other car, Iām reminded of similar times.Ā When she holds her memories on her beloved Sam in her mind and it sweeps her away into those memories of ecstasy, I think about the moments my thoughts were swept away by the memories of loved ones. Ā I think about how beautiful the soundtrack captures all of that and I think about how the car honking behind her startles the heck out of me too! As I was lost in similar thoughts.Ā Ā And I think about her look of being unfulfilled, and her look of missing Sam, and in my head, I imagine the first thing she does when she gets home and sees Sam is kiss her without saying a word, and finish in person, what she started in the car.Ā And I imagine another amazing soundtrack playing in the process :)
When I watch Pharah and Angela consummate their feelings. I am not thinking about the program they made it within, I am thinking about how well their love is captured.Ā I think about how Pharah ran through an entire city to go get wine in her suit just to make it back to Angelaās room exhausted and out of breath.Ā I think about the emotions they bring out of one another, both when vulnerable, and when in control.Ā
And I think about the times I felt this way with a loved one, and the times we shared similar moments, and at times, it makes me miss them. If you can create a āpornā that can make someone reflect on the way others have made them feel, outside of āsexā, then my friend, it doesnāt matter what program you used :)Ā And even if it was just a 30 second loop made for the sake of fapping, it wouldnāt matter then either <3 This scene.. āValentineā in particular, inspired me to start writing again, which turned into me getting back into creating artwork again, and now, trying my own path making content in this way and seeing where it takes me :)Ā If not for this, I would have stayed collaborating, instead of branching out and seeing what I, could create myself.Ā Because of things like this, because of artists like this, because of all the work they put in regardless of the shortcomings of the programs they use (and letās face it, we all have them ^_^)
I lose myself in the story they create, not because of where they made the story, but how they are telling the story.Ā And so many SFM/Blender/Daz/and so on and so forth creators have done such a wonderful job telling their own story. Be it in 30 second loopsBe it in still images. Be it in films or animations, be it using SFM, or Blender, or Daz or Flash or anything else, I never think about the program they used, or howĀ āoldā it may be.
I will always judge the quality of something, not by the program thatās used but by what the artist puts into it. Ā That is always my golden rule :) Ā
I am wowed by the artistry of these artists and creators, and the voice actors that at times appear in them, and I am spellbound by the stories they tell :)Ā In whatever formats they find to tell them.Ā Ā And no one should ever be made to feel inadequate about the things they create, strictly because it isnāt as fancy as what other programs are capable of. Whether or not The Valentine,The Whiteout,The Rival,One Night in Dalaran, Auron, Summer Love, Metal Gear,Ā kreisakeās movie with Sombra, or so many other works by so many different artists were made in SFM, or in Blender, or in Daz, or in Flash or in anything else⦠They would have all made me feel the same way about them.Ā Not because of the program that was used.. But because of what they, as artists, had put into them.Ā And then I would go back, to waiting with anticipation, for what comes next!! :) Not because of the program, but because of them.Ā Because that at itās core..is where it all comes from :)Ā
I hope that answers your question :D
