In this episode of Redacted Tonight VIP, host Lee Camp interviews author, filmmaker and founder of the Zeitgeist Movement, Peter Joseph. Lee speaks to Joseph about his new book, “The New Human Rights Movement.” They talk about all of the illusions we’ve internalized about the free-market. They go in-depth about how pervasive and deep-rooted the big lie of capitalism really is. Joseph then puts forth a number of ground-breaking ideas for a better version of how society can proceed. It’s a more equitable world that overcomes our lower-lizard brains and, instead, elevates our consciousness and empathy. Peter Joseph is one of the great thinkers of our time and this interview lends great insight into his ideas. In the second half of VIP, Lee tears into the asinine Donald Trump. He talks about the possibility of a Trump impeachment. But he’s careful to point out that, although that would be awesome, it wouldn’t change much. Like so many patriotic and brave Americans, Ernest Miller IV joined the US Army because he wanted to protect our country. He served in Iraq, was injured in a car bombing, and received commendations for heroism. However, over the course of his service he became very disillusioned with the military. He’s now retired and no longer supports our imperialist wars. His direct experiences that have informed his perspective are eye opening. Lee Camp [Redacted Tonight #142]

In this episode of Redacted Tonight, host Lee Camp explains that there is another financial crisis looming over us. Just like in 2008/2009 when everybody was defaulting on mortgages, the same thing may happen very soon with student loan debt. The numbers of total debt and the percentage of people in default are nearly identical to the housing crisis. It’s a scary proposition, but certainly worth knowing about because these student loans are backed by the government, which really means us, the taxpayer. Next, Lee discusses the wake of Trump’s abysmal 2018 budget proposal. White House Budget Director, Mick Mulvaney, hit the news talk show circuit to make a very poor case for why gutting government programs vital to educating Americans and cleaning our air are just trimming the fat. Lee eviscerates him in this scathing piece. In the second half of the show, correspondent Natalie McGill joins Lee at the desk to reveal the stunning display of irony of right-wing lawmakers now proposing laws that would punish college students who protest campus guest speakers, absurdly claiming it’s in the name of preserving free speech. She was shot by police apparently for the crime of being a reporter.
