same night routine ;  check the ice box ,  pop whatever fresh food is in to the crock pot and let the logic of the constant do the work  ( where are the plates coming from when she finished cooking ?  sheâll never know ) .  with nothing much to do aside from waiting ,  the child sat ,  staring blankly into the flames in the firepit before metallic hands grabbed onto her sides and lifted her up to the air .
honestly ,  if that much didnât give wendy even the slightest bit of a startle ,  who knows what will .  with a soft surprised gasp ,  her legs kicked up  ( and barely into the fire due to the height of whoever is holding her now ) .  turning her head ,  all the spiked feelings of fear and panicked quieted down ,  though her heart has yet to slow down with the rest of her .
â ⌠ hi dad , â  she said softly ,  trying to focus on relaxing the damned organ still beating quickly .  â and how have you been this fine evening ? â
It had been a long time since heâd taken a trip to visit Wendy. Things were probably overdue too, if their sudden reaction was anything to judge by. They didnât used to be startled by him picking them up. âGREETINGS, WENDY. I AM IN SUSTAINABLE CONDITION. REPAIRS ARE NEEDED, BUT NOT NECESSARY IMMEDIATELY.â Truth was, he was in a pretty roughed up shape, but it wasnât enough to cause him any serious trouble. Dents here and there, and in a couple places there lie claw marks that made their presence known on the metal chassis. It was obvious heâd been fighting hounds recently.
The tall robot set his favorite human atop his shoulders and took her place in front of the campfire, knowing well how cold she could easily be in this weather. Especially while clinging to metal. âHAVE YOU BEEN FARING WELL? YOU ARE ON EDGE. THAT IS UNUSUAL FOR YOU.â Wendy was typically remarkably stoic in the face of death or fear. Odd how they could still get caught off guard though from time to time. âTHE HOUNDS HAVE BEEN MAKING THEIR ROUNDS, LATELY.â It would make sense that was why the child was so alert.
