Basically, I read through all of the Batman Absolute comic and played TF2 again, had this stuck in my head for ages.

So what's the idea here? In my mind, the Absolute universe's entire premise is a world where all the hero's advantages are gone.

A core part of Rodimus’ character in my opinion is his ability to influence and inspire the people around him, as well as his connection to the Matrix and Primacy. So I took away his ability to directly connect to his people, his support and connections.

In Absolute Lost Light, Rodimus has lost his title of Prime because of a life-altering injury at the end of the war. Due to this, Optimus sent him away to manage the Lost Light, a high level prison floating around at the edge of Cybertron where they send the most dangerous prisoners that are deemed to have a chance of rehabilitation.

‘Hot Rod’ here is actually a puppet, made in order for Rodimus to use as a stand-in during battles, as he is too weak to do it himself. There is only one other person that knows of this.

R: That's right, Blurr. It's a really strange occurrence. We're going to investigate more towards that territory. R: So for the time being, we need someone to look after the kid.

R: So Blurr, I just so happened to hear you're taking a break from work. B: Rodimus! I'm ready to return this instant! As soon as I get doctor's approval, I gonna run headlong into my intelligence agent work again.

R: Hey*, you and me both, it hasn't been long since we recovered, right? Take it easy R: I've brought you a nice friend to keep you company during your boring vacation, so try and get along, okay? *T/N: Rodimus says 'hey' in English

R: Alright, come here.
