Though he uses them for those under his care without reservation, Sylas typically finds an excuse to avoid Demacia’s many safe-haven caves, in part due to healthy claustrophobia, an inability to swim, and his unwieldy remaining restraints.

Demacia is the sort of place ripe with easily eroded stones and minerals, and therefore, is most likely harbor to large cave systems throughout the countryside that wandering adventurers and various no-gooders wade through for any variety of their own reasons. Runaway mages, too, have no doubt established their own routes through and to these caves for hiding themselves or storing valuables until a safer date. Sylas finds these safe havens indispensable, using them for his skirmishes, supply storage, or even complete encampments. Oral recounts of notable underground landmarks are already known among most of his refugees, and if not, pass between them quickly to inform one party or another how safe it is at what depth and turn. Mages that produce light with their abilities avoid mapping a system outright, preferring to assist others in their safe travels throughout personally and without greater risk of the route or refuge seized or trapped.

Yet another sleepless night, and he’s passing it the only way his little hedonistic brain knows how. By throwing pebbles he’s found around camp in the air to catch and throw and catch again.
