The Exterminators aren’t just heartless killing machines who slaughter every demon they see during the purges. They have a very strict moral code: if a demon tries to stop them from killing another demon in exchange for their own afterlife, the Exterminators will spare both of them, because sacrificing yourself to help others is a very Christian thing to do (John 13:15, anyone?).

However, ever since the purges began, there hasn’t been a single case of this happening. In Hell, genuine loving relationships are extremely rare, so there aren’t a lot of people who would be willing to die for others. Even then, the very few people in Hell who do love each other are often safely inside with their loved ones during the purges. The ones who do get caught with their loved ones by the Exterminators are either…

a) Too cowardly to die for their loved ones, or…

b) Don’t think there’s a point in trying to exchange a life for a life, because they view the Exterminators as sadistic sociopaths who’ll kill their loved ones no matter what they do.
