Rebecca's Doodles...

Rebecca Riel, Artist - Paso Robles, CA
I have been told that my art is a study in contrasts...
I have a great love for the open expanse of the western skies. Yet on the other end of the scale are the minutia of insect patterns, native wildflowers, Native American handcrafts. Both extremes have in common my love of light and texture.
 Â
With my landscapes, I'm drawn to the early Southwest and California Impressionists with their love of expansive vistas that capture the changeable nature of light, rich colors and heightened realism.
"The unique nature of Rebecca's still lifes is that they are both extremely accurate "portraits" of animals and artifacts as well as being artistically pleasant still life paintings which stand on their own. It is a pleasure having her work in the gallery." - Allegory Fine Arts Gallery
"In her landscapes Rebecca captures the brisk feeling of an incoming storm, the smell of far-away places in the wind, the rain in distant sage. Her love for the ephemera of changing light adds richness and depth to the horizon that comes through to the viewer with richness, color and depth." - Art First, Center for the Arts
