During courtship, the male pigeon flies up and claps his wings together over his back making a clapping sound. Flappy bird? More like "clappy" bird!

Cats commonly sleep between 12 and 16 hours a day. That’s more than most mammals and up to twice as much as humans. I think I'm going to take a cat nap right meow.

Eastern screech owls have very strong vision that helps them find prey in dim light. Don’t look too close during the day--it really ruffles their feathers.

Male mallards, or drakes, are more distinctively colored than females, who are mottled brown with a flourish of iridescent purple on their wing feathers. You can tell the difference even when they're bottom up!

For domestic cows, the process of digestion takes 70-100 hours, one of the slowest  rates of all animals. When cows have a stomachache, they are not amoosed.

Domestic cats, no matter their breed, are all members of one species: Felis catus. You could say they're pretty close. 

Baboons generally prefer savanna and other semi-arid habitats, though a few live in tropical forests. They sometimes hitch a ride to get home faster. 

Hippopotamuses may travel 6 miles (10 kilometers) in a night to consume some 80 pounds (35 kilograms) of grass. You could say they're quite hungry.

Squirrels communicate with each other by making sounds and body movements, such as tail flicking. They occasionally even wink. 

Black cats are often considered harbingers of bad luck. Unfortunately this silly superstition means that black cats are adopted much less frequently than other cats.  Consider making a dark-furred feline part of your family!

Nomads probably domesticated the first horses some 4,000 years ago and in that time they've developed a special way of communicating with people. 

About half of the world's rabbit population resides in North America. All of them are excited for Halloween.
