RPG system!!!

It was another night at the boss’s current place. Diavolo’s work as a mafia boss didn’t let him stay in one place for very long without risk of being arrested or assassinated. It was a risky lifestyle but by now he’s mastered it. He was just doing his usual late night paperwork as the crisp, warm, Italian breeze gently blowing through the half open windows, rustling the curtains.

Diavolo was packing up his papers for the night when he heard something… strange. The distinct flapping of a bird’s wings, but much louder than normal. This can’t be coming from any normal bird, Diavolo thought, so he went to investigate. He opened the window more, wide enough so he could stick his head slightly out, and then he saw it. A large silhouette of… something, flying through the air. Suddenly, the shadow moved towards him, and then, black.

When he woke up, he found himself in a strange place. He was laying on what seemed to be a large bird’s nest decorated with pillows and blankets in what appeared to be a large cave filled with trophies, plaques, and paintings. They all featured the same character and name which he couldn’t quite recognize. He heard something drawing closer… footsteps, loud ones. A shadow comes out of the darkness and revealed itself. It was a large… anthropomorphic bald eagle? Diavolo was shocked, he thought it was kind of funny that this was his captor, but he was still scared.

The eagle spoke softly, “Oh, you’re awake! I made you some food my love.” and passed him a bowl of warm soup. Diavolo took it hesitantly, setting it beside him before shakily speaking, “Who are you? Why am I here?” A single tear rolled down his cheek. “My name is Ethan, and you’re here because I love you dearly Diavolo.” Ethan stated calmly. “Wha- H-How do you know my name!?” Diavolo shouted. Ethan chuckled and simply replied, “Oh, I know lots of things about you my dear.” Diavolo knew what he was implying and he hated it. He hated being here and Ethan knew it, so he softly said “Listen, I know this is a lot to take in, and I want to respect you as much as possible, so I’ll leave you alone if you want. Just tell me if you need anything honey.”

Diavolo sat back, quietly eating his soup that Ethan made. He took this act of kindness quite positively. He started to think whether or not this was really so bad if Ethan respected him and didn’t force him to do anything really? No, that can’t be right, he thought. He needs to stay strong and remain in control of the situation, he can’t let his feelings take over him…

A few hours had passed. Diavolo was long done with his soup, but he had only just now finished something else. He had finished thinking about what he wanted to say, what he wanted to do. And he had came to a decision. “Ethan?” He called out. The bird came rushing over. “Yes darling? What is it? Are you ok?” He asked. Diavolo spoke, “No, I’m fine, I just want to talk.” Ethan replied, “Ok, what do you want to talk about? Also, can I show you something? It’s really beautiful, and maybe we can talk there?” Diavolo thought for a bit, “Sure thing, you can show me.” He replied. The bird’s face lit up with joy, “Oh, okay! Follow me!” He said as he held Diavolo’s hand and lead him off to what he wanted to show him.

“Here it is!” He said, “Have a seat right here.” It was a cliff side, the entrance to Ethan’s mountaintop home, overlooking the city with a perfect view of the sky. “It sure is pretty, isn’t it?” He spoke softly. “Now, what did you want to talk about?” Diavolo thought for a minute, then spoke.

“Listen Ethan, I understand you love me and all, but this is a lot to take in. I’m not denying your affection, but it’s going to take me a while to fully learn to accept it. However, I don’t mind staying here. Just listen, all I’m asking of you is to take things slow so I can learn to adjust to them.” Ethan smiled softly and spoke, “I understand, and believe me, I don’t mind. Take as long as you need.” Diavolo was happy to hear that Ethan understood. He blushed a bit and smiled to himself, thinking that maybe… this wasn’t going to be so bad after all.
