I love the la but the ROMANTICISM in the animanga of luffy knowing three things his first day at sea — he’d be king of the pirates, he’d find the one piece, and roronoa zoro would be on his crew. then made koby sail him to the devil of the east blue, and woo’d him. hand fed him rice balls, punched helmeppo for him, stole back his swords, protected him from bullets, told him the pirate king would need no less than the worlds best swordsman (aka I believe in ur dream). for once, luffy (who usually goes w the flow) took charge of Fate and brought the two of them together

I’ve always wondered how much zoro knows about the circumstance it. he knows how luffy met the other crew members — meeting them on their adventures, taking a shine to them, winning them over his his unflappable personality. but does he know heard his name and wanted him?

water 7 really was the getting together arc for luffy n zoro as the Duo huh? not only did the arc cement them as a crazy pair living on the same wavelength, but zoro looked at his captain and decided, officially, taking care of you is rotten work but I want to be the one to do it. while they almost lost three crewmates (usopp robin and merry) I think zoro looked at luffy and realized not just the physical toll, but emotional on someone like luffy w a heart like his and came to the conclusion he’d be rock solid next to him. you say cut, I cut. which makes him threatening to walk even more interesting, bc in a way it asking luffy — my cards are on the table. I will be here for you. I respect your calls. but can you trust me as much I want you to? my judgement and opinion? and instead of breaking it made their bond that much stronger
