It’s complicated.
Because I love Tyrande’s thirst for vengeance. I know this doesn’t do her good, but I’m always so fucking happy when women are allowed their anger and their resentment and their need for justice/revenge.
I love watching them hunt down those who caused their pain. So, while I love Sylvanas and Nathanos and Sylvanas will always be my number one and my absolutely favorite—I am lit as fuck about Tyrande.
I know many people want to invalidate her victory as “she just sent him where he wanted to go” or “this is not a victory because he will be back in the Maw” or whatever else, but to me—Tyrande wasn’t really after a victory in the conventional sense. To me, she is, like Sylvanas, climbing a ladder and Nathanos was just a step. It doesn’t matter if his death will hurt Sylvanas or mean a loss; Tyrande is merely “cleaning trash on the way to her destination.”
I have said it before that I think the deities and divine beings in WoW are hella flawed. To be honest, I don’t know if I trust Elune. And it would be absolutely lit as hell if at the end Tyrande realized that it wasn’t just Sylvanas who was responsible for their misery—it all those higher powers that have just continually allowed them, perhaps even designed, to get fucked over.
Just like Sylvanas eventually realized Arthas wasn’t her true enemy—he wasn’t even important when she saw who truly had a hand in her fate (or at least this is seemingly the angle they’ve set up imo)—maybe Tyrande will reach a moment where she too sees that Sylvanas wasn’t the only problem. And no, this does not invalidate what Arthas did to Sylvanas or much less what Sylvanas did to Teldrassil, but I really want to fight the cosmos and I need one of these women to be allowed to take their rage out on those higher powers.
to be fair that is what Sylvanas is doing. at the end of shadow’s rising it says “And so it did. And so she continued, for power sought power, and she would have more of it, not for its own sake, but to wield it. The unjust ladder of their lives must be dismantled, not rung by rung, but all at once. All of it. She had been the plaything of a self-righteous cosmos long enough. The jailer, too, understood what must be done. “
Sylvanas has been done with the cosmos for a HOT MINUTE. I believe she will betray the jailer in the future so lets wait and seee
