one thing i rlly appreciate about Great British Baking Show as apposed to RuPauls Drag Race (two completely different shows, i’m fully aware) is that i never have any question about the validity of what happens in GBBS. Drag race has so many instances of choices in regards to judging being made clearly for drama purposes (drag queens hello). but GBBS always have very fair and well thought out judging. also Paul Hollywood and Pru are at heart very kind people while Ru Paul sort of… isn’t. I really appreciate the addition to GBBS that is the two extra emotional support people also. competition shows can be so incredibly stressful and it’s beautiful that GBBS prioritizes the competitors mental health. queens on drag race have even said that they are sometimes not allowed to use the restroom during shoots. on the other hand, GBBS contestants are allowed to skip if they’re sick. anyways i like both shows a lot but one i watch when i want to relax and watch yummy desserts being baked, and the other is for when i want to be a bitch

if you watched a movie with one main character being a smart-well written, well versed, brave woman and the other a complex, layered, doomed black man, and you choose to focus on the white boy stoner. you are part of the problem with today’s world and the way we consume media

sorry more backrooms stuff cause that movie is amazing. when Clark is doing his roleplay with Mary and just keeps trying to view himself in the right and trying to twist things so that he’s in the right. and she crashes out on him and calls out his bs. when i tell you i cheered. i’m so sick and tired of male antagonists in horror movies getting to have a bullshit monologue about how horrible the world has been to them. and yeah sometimes the girl they’re talking to ends up killing them, but they aren’t told anything, and the movie makes no effort to point out how wrong this is. mary’s crash out was so great to witness and so valid. she’s such a well made and well thought out character and she keeps pushing and finding a way out. on the other hand Clark doesn’t want to leave, he’s dug a hole that he refuses to leave. Mary keeps moving, keeps looking through that window, in spite of her trauma.

Exile is already a great song, but the one last “I think i’ve seen this film before” at the very very very end after all the ah ahs would probably kill me id probably die on the spot
