anything & everything you need to know

Like most of my friends, colleagues and young adults, I've had Facebook for about 5-8 years now, and it has become embedded into mu everyday life. Good? Bad? I wasn't too sure before I deleted my account about 3 weeks ago but for now, I've gained some knowledge about my feelings towards the most popular social media site known to mankind. 

Let me start by saying, I decided to deactivate on a random day. I posted a picture of my friends dog only for his girlfriend to leave a snarky comment and I thought, "Creepy, I don't even know you and you can access my pictures?" I decdid to delete my Facebook for the sake of my own privacy. 

I wake up the next morning, check my text messages and open my computer to see what's up on my news feed. As I'm about to log on I realize, "crap, I deactivated my account." So I steer clear of Facebook and hit up twitter. After about 5 minutes of my twitter feed, I'm already bored. What to do?

STARE AT MY INTERNET TAB FOR 3 MINUTES. I have absolutely no idea what to do now. Then, it hits me. I can't even go on the internet without checking my Facebook.... 

The past 3 weeks have consisted of this issue! What do I do now that I cannot check up on all my Facebook friends at all hours of the day. It's disgusting. My generation, myself included, is so obsessed with/used to knowing everything about each other that I don't even know what to do with myself when I can't do that. 

Half of this problem is due to social groups, academic groups and professional environments using Facebook as a means of communications. Being involved in so many aspects of university has its perks, but if I have no idea what is going on with those who I'm involved with, what's the point right? I figured that, meh, without my Facebook i could just talk to people when I see them, email them, or even text them to get the low down on what's been happening. WRONG. Facebook now even controls communication amongst fundamental groups in my life!
