Even with the cramped hatch space, subpar fuel mileage (14/19 mpg for the S), and the quirky electronics/habits, there is no denying the @maserati Levante S GranSport is one hell of a looker. And it’s stupefyingly fast for something weighing 6,000lbs, while only packing a twin-turbo 3-liter V6 making 424-hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. The brakes are intense, too. And the 8-speed transmission bangs through the gears effortlessly. And the exhaust has a real growl that’s easy to love. Yeah, I dig it while also being annoyed by it. That same transmission has the world’s worst gearshift that takes a delicate touch to go from drive to reverse. Or from park to reverse. But you’re never late getting anywhere, so long as there’re no cops around. Been driving a 2018 @maserati Levante S GranSport for about a week now, and it has some interesting quirks. One thing that happens at least once a day: The car decides to not recognize Apple CarPlay as a thing. Sometimes it also won’t even agree with me that there’s a USB cable plugged in. Today was a first that Apple CarPlay showed up on my phone, but then the screen went blank. This system is from Chrysler, and it’s identical to the one in my aunt’s and uncle’s 2018 Pacifica. I didn’t realize my @yitechnology 4K fell off the @toyotausa C-HR until I turned around to go on that road again. Then I saw what appeared to be one of my cameras in the middle of the road. I got really lucky. Secure your gear. Enjoying the @toyotausa C-HR. For $27,185, there’s a lot to like. No leather or nav. But auto high-beams, lane departure warning and assist, radar-guided cruise control, auto brake hold, 27/31 city and highway mpg, and a deceiving size that appears small and bulbous on the outside, but roomy and cavernous inside. The backup camera shows up in the rear-view mirror instead of the giant touch screen, which is odd. No SiriusXM, either. I do love one-touch up and down windows front and rear.
