The results are in, and we are pleased to announce that Ravi Chakrabarti Appreciation Week will be held September 18-24, 2017! 

The themes are as follows: 

Day 1, Sept 18: Reactions Ravi reacting to a zombie? That Major was the killer? THAT DARTH VADER IS LUKE’S DAD? What’s YOUR favorite Ravi reaction?

Day 2, Sept 19: Traits Ravi’s got a lot of great traits, feel free to talk about your favorite(s)!

Day 3, Sept 20: Moment/Scene/Episode Fighting Blaine? Shaking his head at racists? Every scene he’s in? Whatever your favorite Ravi moment is, we can’t wait to see it.

Day 4, Sept 21: Funny/sass moments and/or Outfits Let’s be real. Ravi has sass and a great wardrobe. Amen. Hallelujah. Post your Ravi content.

“The problem with allowing life to take you wherever it wants you to go, Ravi finds, is that sometimes it leads you to a fork in the road.

The whole two roads diverging in a yellow wood spiel, the complete package signed by Robert Frost and all, and then it says choose.

Except you’re blindfolded. And it spun you around in circles first. And you don’t know you’re in a yellow wood somewhere.

In fact, you don’t even know how you got there.

Anyway, it says choose and you choose and it’s sealing your fate, it’s a turning point. It’s a bloody milestone.

But it doesn’t tell you that, no.

It says choose and you choose, and then you keep drinking your latte.”

Character: Ravi Chakrabarti

Representation: Racial (Indian) 

Their Importance: Ravi is, quite frankly, one of my favorite male characters I’ve seen. He’s hilarious, smart, witty, and is a 3D character who isn’t just the “funny guy” but has heartwarming (and sometimes serious/heartbreaking) scenes as well. It’s wonderful to see Ravi - a lot of my early exposure to fellow Indians on tv was in a mocking way; they’d be nerdy and considered the “comedic” character of the group, but the jokes always consisted of jokes about the character and their culture, not because they were ever genuinely funny. However, Ravi is different. He’s nerdy, sure, but he’s also completely, genuinely funny in the show and gets to joke around with the characters - he’s never joked about. 

Ravi is just treated the same way as the others - he has flaws, makes mistakes throughout the show, and is allowed to also be brave and fight for his friends - but the show never forgets that he’s also a person of color, as they’ve also shown Ravi’s reactions and exasperation to racist opinions. The way they’ve written Ravi has felt very realistic to me (as realistic as a show about zombies can get, anyway). The show also places a certain amount of importance placed on him, as he’s the only person in-show who’s actually working on a cure for zombies. In short, Ravi is an amazing character and I wish I got to see more Indian characters like him growing up, especially because he shows how to be a funny character without also being the butt of a joke.

Superhero AU - so Ravi is lowkey the sidekick in this one but he’s just out minding his day when someone decides to rob him and then all of a sudden The Major is there pulling the guy off of him. The [Liv superhero name that I can’t think of] is running up to them and The Major is telling her he’s got it, and they both give him a wave and are on their way. 

Ravi’s immediately in love with both of them lmao and he unintentionally keeps getting into trouble. The white haired douche villain who’s name Ravi can never remember almost drops a truck on him, he gets kidnapped, almost run over. Every time, the two are there saving him and it gets to the point where Ravi’s just like, “What, are you guys stalking me now?” “Oh, hey, thanks for saving my life, I’m eternally grateful - oh you’re welcome, random citizen!” “The sass is not appreciated.” 

He does eventually find out who they are though (mostly because he basically followed them home one day and was like “HEY SO YOU NEED A DOCTOR ON YOUR TEAM”) and he sasses Major for making his own name the superhero name and promptly plops himself into their hideout and goes “yeah so here I am let’s go team what’s on our agenda for today?” 

Game of Thrones - the awkward squire who everyone thinks is going to die, but somehow he enters every war and leaves with, well, his head on his shoulders. Gets a bit more serious with every battle, a good group of friends, it probably comes out that he’s the bastard of some king, Ravi ends up ruling, nbd everyone hail King Chakrabarti. 

Vampire AU - Ravi is vampire bait. Most likely gets bitten by Blaine and spends the remainder of his immortality holding it against Blaine. 

“Oh, come on, you found the love of your life doesn’t that mean anything -” 

“I DRINK BLOOD NOW YOU TWAT.” 

Coffee Shop AU - come on. Ravi meets Major here (Major is the barista) and he’s just shamelessly flirting with him let’s be real. Definitely awkwardly asks out Major by asking for “whole milk with cinnamon. Kind of like you and me, right? Cinnamon in the - sorry, let me start over.” 

Ghosts/Supernatural- Ravi finds ghosts interesting even though he’s scared of them, and he’ll reluctantly go along with any ghost hunting shenanigans that Major and Liv pull him into. Major believes and just wants to find ghosts. Liv thinks it’s all bulllshit (”you’re a zombie, Liv,” “Still”). 

Clive still can’t believe Ravi goes along with this white nonsense. Ravi will argue on how it’s based on scientific curiosity, but when he hears a noise or something falls and he almost drops the EMF from fear, he’s inclined to agree with Clive. 

They decide to hold a seance and Ravi kind of just goes “why did i do this why did i do this why did i do this” the entire time and when the ghost addresses him by name Ravi almost starts screaming.
