I’ve noticed before how interesting the Magic Town townie names are, so I wanted to make a list. At first I found them by seeing who popped up in-game, but @2spooky4blue mentioned there’s a way to find them in the game files. I saw the file Live.iff, opened it in IFF Pencil and lo and behold there’s all the Magic Town names! So thanks to that file I found every single name, rather than lucky passerby while playing.

The names get pretty interesting. A lot are suitable witch names (obviously), but there’s also quite a few that could fit medieval sims. Even some old school goth sounding names, or just edgy & alternative, like Rot. Also some are just downright strange, like Thog? lol

Most of The Sims games from the 2000s are quickly becoming abandonware! Here’s where you can find them! Because FUCK Article 13! Dedicated to ANYONE who might be affected. (Updated NOV ‘19!)

With everything that’s going on, I’d also like to say that I hope everyone stays healthy as Corona is still obviously an issue in much of the world. I never thought we’d be in such a bad place that a national pandemic would be on the backburner to our other issues in the US.

Busy Roads NH Traffic Default Replacement

With this DR set you can replace Maxis’ neighborhood traffic with vehicles from ‘Busy Roads’ decorative cars set.

It comes in 9 separate options which gives you the possibility to combine it with other NH traffic DRs (like invisible cars, for instance).

This DR requires original ‘Busy Roads’ Hood deco vehicles set to be installed.

To install, just place the files into your ‘Downloads’ folder.

Please, choose only one option for Garbage truck and one option for white van since there are two possible DRs for each one.

Garbage truck can be replaced with:

Ground Stroller 4x4 SUV or

Garland Noriker Box van Truck

White van can be replaced with:

Forth Cargo van or

Forth Campion Camper truck

The rest of the cars are replaced like so:

Recently my game (TS2) would lower the fps, crash or even not open.

After a long time i discovered that my windows 10 had an update and broke my game. Of course i disable ALL the updates for the future (that is a thing that you don’t have to follow..) and i found a solution.

The 4GB Patch Repair.I am gonna mention i have 10GB cc on my download folder and the update made my game reset by the 4GB patch repair (THAT I HAD in the past) and made it broke.

First to check if you had the 4GB patch in the past but you believe it has stopped working, go to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log.

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be below 4.000 then you have to install the 4GB.

Download The 4GB Patch Repair Program HERE and follow the VERY simple tutorial ill write.

Extract the file.

Open it.

Go find your main Sims 2.exe file ( i have the Ultimate Collection so here is my Path)  “C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" 

Select it and click ok.

Done.

Open your game, wait it to lunch completely and close it.

After this, go again to your Sims 2 Folder in Documents:

Documents>The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection>Logs>DESKTOP-HIP7R3K-config-log. 

Open this config note and if you see the Memory to be changed into 4.000 then you are ready.

Would you like to help archive player-made Sims custom content and mods for a non-profit? Even become an archive admin?

Hi guys, I’ve got some really big news! Several weeks ago I mentioned how I thought that there should be a way to archive Sims content long term. While I know that there have been several attempts to archive fan-works they’ve been fraught with problems. As I’m sure you know, servers can be expensive and it’s difficult to keep them online. Sites like Sims2graveyard are good but they have the additional issue of going down themselves and only host certain kinds of content (only Custom Content for one game).

That post led me down quite a rabbit trail. After discussing the idea with some friends on a discord server I decided to send an email to The Internet Archive to request a collection. After that request I was approved and given a collection. For those of you who aren’t familiar with IA, The Internet Archive (the creator of the WayBackMachine) is a non-profit organization that hosts all sorts of data and is sponsored by The Library of Congress and Google among many others.

After creating the Sim Archive Project I got in contact with Don Hopkins (Yes, like programmer for The Sims! THAT Don Hopkins!) and talked to him about how deeply he cared for the community and their creations. He was also nice enough to make a video of the 1998 version of The Sims and also recommend some books about the history of the culture and history around video game modding.

While this is all very exciting I need your help. While I’ve been doing work to try and upload as much content to the archive as possible there’s just no way I can do all of it. While I have a group of admins who work with me to expedite the process, it’s still quite the endeavor.

If you have any old content that you want archived long term in a safe place, upload the content and a screenshot of content to the Internet Archive and send me a link to your Items by sending me an ask. It will take a while for your items to show up in the Sim Archive Project Collection. Also please remember, while files can be downloaded from the archive it should be used only as a backup service rather than your sole file service. This archive is meant to be a way to preserve files rather than just share them. We’d like to save as much notable content as we can for all of the games.
