Hey, so, because some folks were kind enough to drop me a note asking if all was well behind the scenes, I wanted to take a second to say that yes, I'm still alive and no, this blog isn't permanently dead. I guess it's sort of an unannounced hiatus. I posted back in December 2015 that my mom passed away. It was very sudden, not at all expected, and exceptionally hard to deal with. My family is still reeling, still healing, and still struggling. In March I got married to my partner of 8 years (9 this September) and left my old job for a new one. The new job is terribly stressful and draining and I would have quit by now if we didn't need the money. It has been messing with my health in more ways than I really care to document, but between the new job and the old stressors I just don't have too much of a brain left sometimes. Something had to give, and unfortunately one of those things was regularly updating Tumblr. I just keep moving forward, keep focusing on what we're working towards because I know that it won't always be this stressful. It can't always be this stressful because I'll implode. I know it's going to get better, which is what I focus on to get me through. And eventually I'll be back to writing, which means I'll return to posting prompts. In the meantime, there are 511 writing prompts on this blog for your purusal and there is a submit button at the top of the blog for anyone who is creative and feels like sharing. I couple people left me messages to this effect. I’m fine. I’m still kickin’. At the beginning of this year I got married and started a new job, which leaves me little spare time or energy these days. Lots of stress + no spare time = no posts on Tumblr. Sorry :(

Use them for anything you want. If someone manages to get published using one of these prompts to start their book, I think that's really awesome.

Write about someone who discovers an old bomb shelter, with the door still locked from inside.

Write about a large ship that washes ashore in a coastal town. It appears to have been abandoned, but when people begin to explore its holds they are able to piece together a much more horrific truth.

Write about someone who is convinced that the ghost of someone they accidentally killed has come to seek revenge. Whether or not they actually did kill someone might be worth exploring.

Write about the last hours on earth, as those left behind watch the sun go supernova.

Write about a group of hikers that finds a small child far out in the wilderness near what appears to be an abandoned building. The child does not talk. Horror movies have taught us that this is a bad sign.

Write about a teenaged sleuth who is building a case against her school, alleging that her teachers and administrators may not be human, and that horrible things happen behind closed doors.

Write about a long stairway that vanishes down into darkness.

Write about a young person who is sent to live with an elderly relative they have never met before. Things at this new home are not as they should be, and are just begging to be investigated.

Write about someone who is wrongfully convicted of a capital crime.

Write a field guide to monsters as if you were a monster hunter. Like if Sam and Dean ever got around to writing an encyclopedia of all the stuff they've slaughtered over the years.

Write about being homeless in a city where supernatural predators come out after dark.
