I made a lil something and might make it a series but idk we’ll see
The air four levels beneath the O.X.E. research complex didn't taste like air at all. It was a suffocating cocktail of stagnant ozone, chemical preservatives, and the damp, heavy chill of sub-level concrete.
Yelena kept her stance straight and prepared, her boots making no sound against the dusty floor as her twin shock batons hummed with a low, defensive vibration. Behind her, Ava flickered like a broken television screen, her jaw tight as she fought to keep her molecular structure from phasing through the solid ground. John brought up the rear, his gun raised, his eyes tracking every shadow that danced in the dim crimson glare of the facility’s emergency lights.
He shuffled along in the center of their loose formation, a ragged, shivering man wrapping a thin, stained institutional blanket tightly around his broad shoulders. His bloodshot eyes darted erratically from the cracked ceiling panels to the massive, armored vault door they had just blown open. He looked less like a god capable of tearing down stars and more like a stray animal expecting a blow.
"Bob," John’s voice was a low, military grate. "Look at these terminals. This look like the main lab to you?"
Bob didn't answer. He took a frantic, uneven step backward, his heel catching on a thick bundle of heavy-duty power cables snaking across the floorboards. With an awkward, heavy stumble, his shoulder slammed hard into a massive, recessed steel maintenance pillar hidden in the deep shadows of the back alcove.
The impact echoed loudly through the concrete bunker. Clang.
A heavy iron cover panel clattered to the floor, releasing a sharp, violent hiss of pressurized hydraulic fluid. The shadows parted as an automated tracking system groaned to life. Deep within the false wall, a secondary containment unit—completely hidden from the facility’s main floor plans—slowly glided forward.
Unlike the chaotic, scratched-up isolation cell they had dragged Bob out of, this unit hummed with a quiet, pristine cryogenic stability.
The team instantly pivoted, weapons raised. Yelena stepped closer, using the back of her tactical glove to wipe away the thick layer of frost and gray dust obscuring the reinforced glass viewport. Underneath the soft, amber internal stasis lights, the glowing digital terminal blinked into existence.
[ SUBJECT NAME: Y/N [REDACTED] ]
[ PROJECT CLASSIFICATION: [REDACTED] ]
[ STATUS: INDUCED COMA / CRITICAL STASIS ]
"What the hell is this?" Walker muttered, lowering his gun a fraction of an inch to squint at the blinking red letters. "Bob. Is this another super-soldier? Part of your project?"
Bob shuffled forward, his wild, trembling hands pressing flat against the cold glass viewport. He stared through the mist at the sleeping girl, his mind racing frantically to find a memory that simply wasn’t there. "I... I don't know," he stammered, his voice cracking with pure confusion. "I've never seen her before. There was only me. There was only the Serum. Why is she here? Who is y/n?"
Through the clearing glass, the team stared in absolute bewilderment. Where Bob looked like a victim of prolonged, agonizing isolation, the girl inside looked utterly untouched by time or trauma. She wasn't wearing a standard, faded medical gown. Instead, she looked as if she had been plucked right off a city street and frozen mid-breath.
She wore a crisp, jet-black tank top and perfectly fitted black ripped skinny jeans. On her feet were sleek, black heeled ankle boots, entirely free of scuffs, dust, or wear. Her wasn’t matted or tangled; instead, it spread out elegantly across her shoulders and back like a dark, deliberate halo.
Her expression was entirely peaceful. There were no stress lines on her forehead, no signs of the psychological torment rolling off Bob in waves.
"She’s dressed for a night out, not a laboratory experiment," Yelena murmured, her eyes tracing the elegant drape of the girl's hair across her shoulders. "If Bob doesn't know her, and O.X.E. hid her behind a structural pillar... she might not be a weapon they built. She might be a weapon they stole."
Before Walker could reply, a sudden, metallic clank of heavy automated deadbolts echoed through the chamber.
The amber lighting snapped into a blinding, rhythmic crimson strobe. The main terminal wall abruptly wiped clean, replacing the redacted biometric data with giant, glowing red digits:
[ SECURITY BREACH DETECTED ]
[ SYSTEM PROTOCOL: INCINERATION HAZARD CLEANSE ]
[ TIME REMAINING: 02:00 ]
A deep, industrial klaxon began to wail, vibrating violently through the soles of their boots. High above, near the vaulted ceiling, massive iron vents slid open with a terrifying hiss, exposing rows of gas-fed igniter coils that crackled with electrical arcs.
"We’re locked in!" Walker yelled over the sound of the incinerator winding up, slamming his shoulder against the heavy blast doors. "The whole damn room is an oven! They’re trying to burn the evidence!"
"The walls are too thick!" Ava flaked violently, her form splitting into translucent afterimages. "I can’t phase us all through solid titanium under a lockdown grid!"
Yelena didn't waste a second and found the source that was holding Ava back quickly. “I can override it!” She hurriedly shouted before John came up with his shield. “On your left!” Before smashing it and letting Ava rush out to open the door from the outside while Yelena sprinted past a frantic Bob straight to the stasis pod. Through the glass, y/n remained completely serene, entirely oblivious to the impending wall of fire. "Walker! Get over here!" Yelena barked.
"We don't even know who she is!" Walker fired back, checking the timer—01:34. "We don't have time to carry a body!"
"If O.X.E. wants her burned badly enough to incinerate their own million-dollar facility, then she is exactly what we are taking!" Yelena smashed her tactical baton into the emergency glass casing of the manual release lever, grabbing the heavy iron handle and yanking it downward with all her weight. "We don't leave people behind to cook!"
A loud, explosive pop echoed as the pneumatic seals blew. A dense cloud of freezing white vapor poured out of the pod, pooling around Yelena’s tactical boots and obscuring y/n’s black heeled ankle boots. As the glass door swung open, the sudden rush of warm air caused the frost on y/n’s skin to rapidly melt into tiny, glistening beads. Her head lolled forward, completely limp, locked in the deep, unyielding coma.
Walker growled, stepping in with his super-soldier strength to scoop y/n up into a fireman's carry. Her arms dangled limply against his tactical vest, her hair cascading down his dark armor.
Above them, the igniter coils roared to life, casting a blinding, white-hot glare across the ceiling as sheets of industrial fire began to rain down.
"Bob!" Yelena shouted, grabbing the shivering man by his collar and dragging him along as the door opens and Ava stands there breathless.
They burst through the exploding doorway, sprinting through a labyrinth of collapsing corridors as the complex tore itself apart. Concrete cracked, dust blinded them, and the heat licked at their backs until they finally ducked into a cavernous, dimly lit subterranean loading bay, safely out of reach of the fire.
Walker heavily dropped y/n onto a stack of industrial crates. Her body remained limp, her hair spilling over the wooden edge. Bob stood a few feet away, his chest heaving, his skin still crackling with residual golden sparks. He looked down at her, completely bewildered. Drawn by a strange, inexplicable pull, Bob stepped forward. "Is she... is she okay?" he muttered. He reached out a trembling hand, his fingers lightly brushing against y/n’s shoulder.
The instant his skin made contact, y/n’s eyes snapped wide open. They weren't cloudy or disoriented from the stasis; they were sharp, lethal, and burning with a terrifying adrenaline.
Before Bob could even blink, her hand shot out like a striking viper, gripping his wrist. In a singular, fluid explosion of motion, she used his own momentum to pivot. Her black ripped skinny jeans blurred through the air as she whipped her legs around, sweeping Bob completely off his feet.
Bob hit the concrete floor hard enough to crack it. Before he could gasp for air, y/n pinned him down. She planted the sharp, solid heel of her black ankle boot directly onto his throat, pressing just enough to cut off his airway. Her hair fell forward, framing her fierce, face as she glared down at him.
"Where am I?" y/n demanded, her voice low, raspy from the cryogenic sleep, but dripping with absolute venom. "Who authorized the wake-up? Speak, or I take your head off."
"Hey! Goth girl! Stand down!" Walker barks, his gum instantly locking onto her.
"Don't move," Yelena warned. "Trust me, you do not want to press that button."
Under the heel of her boot, Bob’s eyes lost their frantic, human panic. The pupils dissolved into a blinding, celestial gold. The Sentry took control.
A shockwave of raw, solar kinetic energy erupted from Bob's body, breaking her leverage. Before y/n could react to the sudden cosmic heat radiating under her boot, Bob's hand moved at supersonic speed. He caught her ankle, twisting just enough to break her hold, and rose in a single, seamless motion.
With god-like strength, Bob drove her backward. Y/n’s back slammed hard against the reinforced concrete wall of the loading bay. Bob pinned her there, his massive, glowing golden hand pressed firmly against the center of her chest, right over her black tank top, locking her in place.
The room went dead silent. The violent escalation suddenly stalled into a tense, breathless standoff.
Y/n was tanked flat against the concrete, her feet dangling an inch off the ground, but she didn't look afraid. Her chest rose and fell heavily against his hand. She looked directly into his solid gold eyes.
The cosmic energy rolling off Bob gently rustled her hair. For the first time, the Sentry wasn't looking at a threat to destroy, and y/n wasn't looking at a captor to kill. Underneath the raw aggression of being pinned to the wall, a dangerous, unspoken attraction flared up between them—a magnetic spark born from mutual, overwhelming power.
"You're heavy," y/n whispered, a defiant, razor-sharp smirk tugging at the corner of her lips despite the hand locking her down. "But your hands are warm."
The Sentry’s glowing eyes narrowed slightly, his grip unyielding but consciously choosing not to crush her. "You're fast," he responded, his voice echoing with a low, resonant power that vibrated through the concrete wall. "But you need to calm down. We aren't your enemies."
Yelena lowered her weapon a fraction of an inch, glancing between the two glowing, super-powered beings practically breathing each other's air. She let out a dry, sarcastic sigh. "Great. Perfect. We rescued a lethal amnesiac, and Bob is having a moment. Can we please flirt outside before the rest of the building blows up?”
But the two beings ignored her, just staring into each other’s eyes, as if reading their souls and confirming they feel the same magnetic pull that almost felt like…destiny?
