Hello! Sorry to ask this, but Doc was curious and we dont like letting him make asks when he's like this — why are polyminds or those neutral to them on your DNI? Obviously you do not have to answer this, Doc was just wondering and now he's made me curious enough to ask as well.
Cheerio! (I've never used this before but birdie likes it!)
(I believe we've answered another ask for this before but honestly I can't remember when)
Tdlr; it's treated like being a system, when it shouldnt be. It's become IFS to an extreme-
Polyminds and neutrals are on our DNI due to the term basically turning into being endogenic but with very similar, but different terms (mind, active, job, medialing = alter, front, role, fictive). The carrd they made also has information that makes me uncomfortable.
As the carrd states; polymind isn't supposed to be plural, but one may identify as such. There's also "origins" for minds called "shatter", Identified as "what causes someone to realize they are polymind". Known ones on the wiki are from childhood, from teenhood, and one from mental illness. Again these sound like system origins.
Just a lot of what polymindence is now makes me uncomfortable, it's unsettling-ly similar to system terms, and each time I ask I've been told "similar experiences warrant similar terms" which I guess but- I don't think polymindence is a similar experience to having a CDD. In it's attempts to separate itself it still uses terms too similar.
The carrd also states what makes the polymind doesn't matter, but it's meant to be for those how have already seperated themselves. Acknowledging the dangers of seperating oneself but then saying it "doesn't matter anyone can separate themselves" is off putting. This has become ifs but without the actual point ifs works towards.
I also wanna add last second that separating subpersonalities, will not cause them to act like a system, which polymindence seems to want.
I even found it hard to tell who was a system and who was polymind unless stated because how similar polyminds make it seem to being a system.
If someone separated themselves due to BPD or some other issue, I have no issue, but to then to treat it like being a system is the issue.
Sorry if I come off as harsh, today's been a bad day -u- thank you for asking nicely.
