Flins and Varka are stunned. They look at Illuga, who just chuckles, thinking its just a little girl's imagination.

"It may be the pretty face and the long hair, perhaps he resembles some fairy from a tale" He thinks. Flins laughs it off and Varka just sighs.

But Nezuko still thinks of all humans as her family, so when some Hashira tries to cut her neck, and she manages to defend herself, she cries in confusion, calling them by a familiar bond.

Imagine Mitsuri trying to be quick (heartbroken because she doesn't want Giyuu to die, and because she genuinely can't help but empathize with Tanjiro), and all of the sudden she hears this powerful demon with atypical eyes just looking at her, crying and calling her 'mama' or 'sister'.

Or imagine Sanemi being refered to as an older brother by a demon who looks the age some of his younger siblings would be if they had the chance to grow up. I can't imagine this ending well, tho; it would enrage Sanemi even more for sure.

Maybe i'm extrapolating it a little too close to the sun but bear with me. If you squint you can kind of see a parallel between Kyojuro and Tsutako.

An older sibling (one who loves too much, with their heart promised to someone else yet able to sacrifice their life to protect a weaker being) and a younger brother who grieves their death while facing a bitter aftermath back home. Of course the impact of their sacrifice is different (kind of) but I can still see it tbh

I like to think Giyuu thinks about that too, so he makes sure to have an space for Senjuro on his state. Probably what was his soon-to-be brother-in-law didn't care about him the same way he cares about Senjuro, but he still feels comforted by the resemblance of their situation.

Is a little uncanny, really, but in the end maybe that's why he loved Kyojuro so much, because Tsutako had a powerful impact on how Giyuu perceived love in general. He hates a little how his perception of someone experiencing love is being willing to give away their own life, maybe he sees love on the need of being strong for someone else. Of course he would prefer to love someone who was more selfish, someone who would prioritize themselves but could he really feel their ability to love then?
