ok so i have a very detailed and nuanced opinion on him.

narratively (and metatextually) i think it's incredibly interesting (and honestly, kinda funny) to have a pretty Objectively Bad Guy, when there's antagonists and other characters who have contradictory motives, such as kira, who has good intentions yet aligns herself with an oppressive power, making her on the side of the antagonists. price, by comparison, is exploitive, works with raft, abusive, and frankly has hardly any screentime and canonical characterization for a really good outlook into his mode of operation, other than the fact that he just uses fear and power to get what he wants from other people. he doesnt even do things himself most of the time, he gets other people to do things for him. he's a class traitor and a gang leader that dresses like a pimp. that said, i think it Could be interesting were the connection to captain rose to be explored more with him and now, when it comes to fandom discussions, i prefer to avoid talking about price all together because a LOT. and i truly mean a LOT of fan portrayals of him make him into "poor boy who has complex motivations and was betrayed by chip," and/or "woobified abuser but also the abuse is watered down and basically ignored." (and the third most sinister version: "im gonna say that i know he's a bad guy but i'm also only going to talk about how much i love him as a character and how hot i think he is.") he's not a primary antagonist, yet many analyses of him operate under that assumption, when at BEST he's a tertiary antagonist, and it gets a little frustrating when more attention is paid to him than Literally The Main Characters Who Are Women. which is partially connected to my dislike for him, as (very strangely) quite a number of posts about him also have really?? misogynistic content? like at best it will be removing a lot of in-text agency from women in the story, and at worst, just insane levels of misogynoir towards lizzie.
