So this year has been kind of dogshit for many people. But @strang3lov3 recently reminded me that despite the storm, there's always something to be grateful for, no matter how big or small.
I want anyone who sees this to reblog (or send me an ask if you're shy) with the best thing that happened to you this year. Could be anything, there's no rules. Maybe you saw an incredible movie or got a new pet. Maybe you learned how to knit or maybe you got a promotion. I want to read what made people happy and I think it's nice to reflect back on some of the good stuff now and then. It can be very easy to take things for granted (yes, I'm talking to myself here) and maybe this'll help spread a little happiness, I don't know.
I'll go first, and it might be an obvious one for those who follow along here, but beating cancer this summer was kind of the best part of my year.

As for me, here are three:
I started a job in August that's very grown up and serious, and I was thrown right into it. I did a lot of proving myself while also learning things at the same time. Feels good to be able to say "Oh shit! I can do this and figure things out."
I spent a lot of time outside taking full advantage of good weather and befriending a chipmunk. (CASHEW LOVERS RISE)
I've found a nice circle of friends (shout out PPCU) that I talk to every day who now mean the world to me. Between single chats littered with voice notes and gifs... to group chats filled with Google Doc links, fit check videos and pictures of daily life... to servers complete with a horny hut named after yours truly. It's nice to find a handful of people who seem to understand and accept each other.
Aw, this is a sweet idea! It's definitely been A Fucking Year (TM), but aside from all the usual good things (family, friends, fandom), I learned to crochet last winter and I've made some fun stuff! Most of my talents are digital so it's a nice change of pace to have a physical hobby.

This year was good for me. Got a lot of answers for some side interests of mine. Saw a couple people grow more into themselves, get a light in their eye. Made some memories and came to some new personal understandings. Took up guitar last May: though far behind where I should be, it's been fun dabbling when the mood strikes. Started reading again! Huge.
Even the chaos has been instructive: marking down patterns of behavior, sorting through innocent misbehaviors or malicious actions. Taking in everyone's feedback and sifting to place my own. Keeping people who need help in my thoughts.
Glad to be on this big ol' planet, soaking up this passing collection of choices called a life. Do I want more from it? Sure. But who doesn't? At least we're here to want it.

My year hasn't been great. After being laid off last year, I found a job, only to be laid off again after two months, and had some health issues, including a visit to the ER.
Thankfully, the X-Files fandom continued to brighten up my life. Your detailed thoughts on the episodes, beautiful fan art, wonderful fics, screenshots and GIFs, and reposts have given me the distraction that I need. Any positive interaction and channeling of love onto paper/the screen reminds me that there is still good out there. I may not know you very well, but I consider you my friends, and, as such, I hope you all have a great remainder of the year and an amazing 2026. Thank you all so much - for sharing your thoughts and stories here and just for existing!

This year has been a pretty rough one for me, overall.
A few good things did happen, though. I adopted a three-year old mini Aussie doodle (I’d argue toy size because he’s only 12 lbs lol) over the summer that I absolutely adore! He fits in so well with my other two dogs and is just an absolute delight.
I also switched departments at work at the beginning of October and it’s been sooooo good for me. My shift starts later in the day now (usually around noon or 1 PM) so I’m actually getting to sleep at night. I’m up just as late as I was before (because ADHD brain doesn’t shut off) but I don’t have to get up super early anymore so I’m actually getting sleep for the first time since I started working here seven years ago. Plus, I’m still work from home which just makes it better.
Those are really the two highlights of the year.

Hello. I was wondering if you will be re-writing Nex Sacramentum? I was really enjoying it, I loved the interaction with Mulder and Ezra and was looking forward to seeing where it would go.
Firstly, I apologize for taking so long to answer this. 🤦🏼♀️ I’ve been working like 60 hours a week for the last few months and I don’t know that I’ve even opened Tumblr in that time.
To actually answer your question: I am working on a rewrite of it. I took it down because it became something I hated instead of the original plan that I loved and was excited about writing. That said, I’m also working on a couple other writing projects at the same time so I work on whichever one calls out to me as I have the time and energy to write. I won’t post any of them until they’re all written and edited, though.
The Diablo franchise is one of my all-time favorites. I decided to go back to the original Diablo game and play through the franchise’s story starting with the first game. I haven’t done this in years so I’m super geeked.
For the record, Diablo + Hellfire expansion is available for $10 on GOG Galaxy and also on BattleNet (recently released here so they must’ve gotten the rights back 😂).

Clearly, Mulder isn’t a mind reader. Or, he might be, but John likes to give friends of friends the benefit of the doubt. He doesn’t think Dana is the type to stake it all on a man who would leave her out alone in the cold, knowing full well what it’d do to her.

My foster dog and her puppies are at their new home and they are THRIVING! They left on Friday after spending the week getting to know my best friend and her husband (they came over every day while they were in town to spend time with her). It was an amazing thing to watch.
The first day, Monday, it was like me just having friends over. The second day, though, that’s when the shift happened. My friends brought their daughter (just under two years old) and Mabel seemed to take it as them showing her their baby and she showed them her puppies. It was so sweet. So, so sweet, you guys. After that they left on Tuesday, she stopped wanting to sleep in my bed with me, she kept taking me to the front door (as though if I opened it, they’d walk through it) or my car. It was like she CLAIMED them that day. She met their six year old son on Wednesday and fell absolutely in love with him.
On Friday, when it was time to leave, she excitedly went to their vehicle and tried to get in it immediately (it was a little too high for her).
My friend has been sending me pictures and videos every day. Mable has gotten very protective of them and absolutely loves being there. You can just see it in her eyes, the way she looks at them, and how relaxed and comfortable she is and it hasn’t even been a week.
This is, by far, the most beautiful rescue story I have and I’m so grateful to be part of it. When she got to me, she was way underweight, pregnant (which I didn’t know), infested with fleas and ticks (seriously, I’d never seen anything like it before and I’ve been doing rescue since I was a kid), and she had worms (which didn’t show up until she got healthy enough to start expelling them about a week later). She’d been seriously neglected (although, thankfully, there were no signs of abuse). I worked hard to get her healthy and make her feel comfortable and safe.
The vet said that had I not done exactly what I did, the babies definitely wouldn’t have made it and she probably wouldn’t have, either.
My best friend and her husband adopted her before I had any information on her beyond her breed. I didn’t even have a picture, but they just knew she was theirs and couldn’t explain it. I knew they’d absolutely adore her and treat her well so I was okay with them taking her (I’m VERY picky about this).
Today, she is thriving in her forever home and I am beyond grateful for how this all turned out.

Ok so I'm finally watching Season 11 of The X-Files.
Episode 7 is called "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" which always bugged me cuz whenever anyone talked about it they called it the "sushi restaurant" episode. I avoided googling what the actual name meant cuz I didn't want spoilers.
But while watching the episode, right after the intro credits they flash this "VGhlIFRydXRoIGlzIE91dCBUaGVyZQ=" on the screen. And that's when I realized the episode title must be encrypted since this second encrypted text was obviously placed where "The Truth Is Out There" is typically placed.
So I ran both of them through this online tool called dcode and figured out they used base64 encoding to encrypt their messages.
