Earthen cabin in Småland, Sweden. 

Known as “backstugas,” these cabins were common from the 1600s until the late 1800s. The structures were often built between two properties, generally on forested land that could not be farmed. It was not uncommon for the inhabitants to work for the landowners.

This particular cabin, which features three stone walls and one wooden wall, was built in the early 1800s by “Little Jon.”
