THE RELATIONSHIPS WE SHARE WITH OUR PARENTS, FRIENDS, OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER EARLY ON IN LIFE AFFECTS OUR RELATIONSHIP STYLE

It is the opinion of many that the outcome of our relationships all depend on us as an individual. That whether we fail or succeed is a side effect of our personalities. If we’re prone to breakups, it’s due to our not-so-pleasant traits, and if we experience stable, loving relationships, then we’re a good person and a well-functioning member of society. In this day and age, we place a lot of importance on bettering ourselves in order to please our significant other, but what if there’s nothing we can do to change our relationship patterns? What if it’s all a product of our childhoods?

Flash forward to me now having just watched the last episode and my heart is somehow racing incredibly fast and is also completely broken. WHY ABC?!?!??!!?! I’m so angry its not even funny!!!!!!!! I will never understand why they would go to all that effort of making a tv show, only to give it ZERO promotion (seriously, i think Shonda tweeted about it once maybe??). And the show is SO GOOD? LIKE HIGH QUALITY STUFF!!!! 

Ugh anyways thoughts on the last episode

- Absolutely perfect (you know beside the cliffhanger and it being canceled) 

- Benvolio deserves the whole world and I will literally fight everyone for his happiness. 

-Rosaline too.

- Me anytime Paris talked to/looked at/touched Livia  

- Got a couple good redemption arcs in the episode, Lord Montague, Lady Capulet, (though its too little too late), Escalus 

-When Escalus couldn’t understand why Roasline trusts Ben and he dropped the biggest truth bomb on his head saying ‘she trusts me cause I’VE NEVER LIED TO HER’ BOOM TRUTH! 

- Now lets talk about the cell scene. Why don’t you just rip my heart out???? WOULD’VE HURT A LOT LESS! I find it so hard to actually enjoy their kiss (don’t get me wrong it was beautiful and i was sobbing) knowing that its their first and last kiss that we’ll ever see.

-But oh boy when he said he had seen Ros and Escalus moment that surprised me!!! The fact that he’s never used that against her just shows what a good human he is! 

- And heres the bit that got me. “I trust you” I truly believe that it Rosalines way of saying I love you. I think trust is incredibly hard for her and for her to trust a man she was convinced she hated is something so glorious to me.

-And the kiss itself was just so well done. I love how it was Ros to be the one that first went it for it and then when Ben came out of shock he went for it. I’m always a fan of the cupping the cheek while kissing. But that single tear though…. 

- Anyway I was so relieved Escalus let Ben go, good boy, you came to your senses and listened to Ros. Definitely wasn’t expecting him to get shot. I was hoping the show would end with him marrying Ros and Ben in front of everyone coming full circle but I clearly had too much hope! 

- At the end when ‘the new prince is coming’ kept being said over and over again, i just kept thinking ‘ the new prince is fucking crazy’ 

Benvolio: “I don’t know. But she does.”

Now that we know that Benvolio knows about Rosaline x Escalus being in love, you can’t deny this scene is a coded way of Escalus saying he’s pissed off that ‘his’ woman has fallen in love with this other man. But that’s the difference between Escalus and Benvolio. Escalus assumes that he deserves Rosaline’s love and, no matter what choices he makes, she will still love him and want to be with him. It angers him to think her love might be taken from him. Whereas Benvolio is shocked and puzzled that he has earned Rosaline’s love, because he assumes he does not deserve it. Throughout this whole show he has never shown jealously. In fact, the only thing he has done is go out of his way to make what she wants a reality, even if that means a reality without him. As long as she’s happy, that is enough for him. But that doesn’t mean that’s all Benvolio wants, he longs for Rosaline to love him they way he loves her. When he cheekily responds “but she does” it’s two-fold: he’s getting a friendly jab in at Escalus because he’s a bit bewildered himself, and it shows how much he treasures even having a sliver of his beloved Rosaline’s love.
