Dark Role Play: Or, Avoiding Creeps [Or Being One]

Always read a blog’s about and rules before messaging them about ideas.

Dark plots cover a lot of things, including violence, horror, war, torture, gore, and trauma. They may even mention sexual abuse or feature it in the back ground, but rarely is anyone ever comfortable writing them out.

“I will pay you to role play this with me”. Um. No. Just. There’s so much sketch there its not even funny. First of all, you have no guarantee they will. Two, being paid to write other people’s character’s can get you in huge trouble.

If you say you don’t want to do a plot for any reason, you shouldn’t have to explain it, and you shouldn’t have to repeat yourself. So, if they push it, say good bye, and block.

You are not obligated to write with anyone you don’t want to, or simply don’t mesh well with.

Similarly, no one is obligated to write with you just because you can’t get anyone to role play what you want.

If someone is making you feel uncomfortable you are under no obligation to explain it, or warn them. Removing yourself from an uncomfortable situation is not rude. Its self care.

“Its Just Role Play”. I have never heard this said by someone casually except when it was someone who had wanted a rape plot, or the mentioned fellow with his pedophilia obsession. The individuals who defend their requests with “its just role play” know damn well it isn’t. They know what they’re asking for is problematic in nature. But they also know they’ve been called out.

Smut Plots: You know, there is a tag for this. NSFW RP. Smut RP. God bless. But don’t bother fandom role players you have never talked to before about t his.

Rape Plots: I can’t even believe I have to explain this isn’t okay. Its not okay to ask strangers for rape plots. Its just not. its a thing a lot of people out there have experiences, and you could trigger them. Its possibly the most horrific experience a person can go through, and most writers won’t put their muses through that either.

Pedophilia Plots: Yeah I’m going to go ahead and say no. Just generally no. Exploiting children is not okay. Exploiting children characters is not okay. And I’d put even odds down to say its illegal. And if you are a person who wants to do a pedophilia post I don’t have to be a trained professional to say something is wrong with you.

My first offering to everyone is a profile/character bio for RPers. The theme features a monochromatic color scheme with a subtle background pattern in the sidebar. Using the profile is fairly straightforward, but there are a few things to note:

This is a Custom Layout for a page, not a Theme for your blog.

Words in ALL CAPS can be changed (ie, IMGURL, GIFIMGURL, etc) with your own content in addition to the dummy text.

✗ Tips for the Sidebar:

A low-key/subtle, repetitive image will work best. The one used in the live preview was found at Subtlepatterns.com.

However, the sidebar is also 100% in height, so an image that has a height dimension equal to or larger than the dimension of your screen res should also work. But, uh, don’t quote me on that as I did not test that out. (>_>) (<_<);

The gif I used in the sidebar is originally 500 x 282px in size but reduced to a width of 250px. Gifs smaller than 250px in width will not work along with long gifs (ie, short width, long height).

Alternatively, this profile could always be used as an About Me page in addition to it’s intended use as a Character Bio/Profile page. If you think this page is cool, please like/reblog and spread the word. c:

My Personal Role Play Rules

Hi, I’m Desiree, and I run multiple character role play blogs. The rules are virtually identical, so I’m making one post I will either reblog to each blog or copy and paste.

Unfortunately due to multiple recent negative experiences I am forced to make sure you read these rules before I say, give you my skype or other contact information off Tumblr. Thus there will be a particular hidden code among my rules.

This Blog Is Semi-Selective. There are so many writers out there, and the fact is, there are even countless talented writers. However, sometimes our styles just don’t mesh. This doesn’t mean you’re in anyway less then quality-just that we don’t have a future writing together.

You are not entitled to having me as a writing partner. I add this because in the past I have faced passive aggressive behavior because I wasn’t answering the other writer’s posts right away because I was excited about a different thread. In the more recent past I’ve had a writer or two try to draw me out of my comfort zone, and then melt down when I couldn’t or wouldn’t write what they wanted.

Related Rule: Skype is available on request, but not for general plotting. That can be done in the tumblr chat feature thank you very much, as that is where I will be role playing my muse.

Related Rule: Haha. Smut or sexually explicit role play will not be occurring with this mun or muse except for extremely selective special occasions.*

This does not mean I do not welcome mature themes. I probably do. I love to put my muses through hell-but I prefer to do it off screen in a lot of cases. Discuss with me, but more then anything I enjoy building them up after.

Following: I will follow a lot at first, and it means I am interested in writing with you. However if we don’t seem to click, mesh, or write together for whatever reason, I reserve the right to unfollow you to keep the dashboard clean.

I live with depression and anxiety, so I might vanish on occasion without warning, or drop threads. If you think I lost yours or might have dropped your thread without telling you, message me. I might have-and I probably meant to message you, but it was a dark day and I just couldn’t bring myself too.

Never be afraid to break the ice with a meme. Or even just an in character ask. I live for these, even if I don’t always answer. Frequently its because I don’t know how to

That said on no occasion will the mun be writing: smut for the sake of it

And if you even ask about writing dubious consent or rape scenes (I refuse to call them forced sex or non consensual, they are rape scenes) I will block you so fast it will make your ancestors dizzy.

*On the rare occasion I write out sexual scenes or smut, its because its with a close friend I know is of age, whose muse has an established history with mine and we have discussed it. IE, The Tale of Margaery Tyrell sticking a cucumber up Robb Stark’s butt.

If you couldn’t tell, the italicized phrase was the key phrase.

The theme has a pop-up askbox (try it on the preview). It is optional, so if you don’t feel comfortable with it, all you have to do is disable it on the appearence section.

If you want to use the pop-up askbox, you’ll need to enter your url so that it works properly. To do so, go to customize, scrolll down and you’ll see this: “ASKBOX URL”. You’ll have to enter your url without http:// so it will look like this: username.tumblr.com.

Then you have the option to customize the pop-up askbox title, as seen in the preview. Again, you just have to type it on the appearence section, you’ll see “Askbox Title”, here it is.

There are many optional features included in this theme. And when I say optional, it means that you can choose to make them appear or not from the appearence section. All you have to do is enable/disable them. SO please read this post carefully.

Searchbox (optional).

Sidebar picture width:200px. You have the option to give it a circle shape,it will automatically be resized to 150x150px.

3 navigation icons (home, ask and archive) also optional. If you choose to disable them, the two columns on the left including the icons will disappear and those links (and the pagination) will appear as text under the description.

You can show/hide the blog title.
